Coil per cylinder

No ignition subforum, so i put it here.

Who all is running a coil per cylinder set up? What set are you running? how was the install? (any write up would be great). And saying how much $$ you spend would be great too...

I've seen 2 set ups available. One that's actually 4 coils and one that uses LSx coils.

you can run a old school distributor set up to on the newer LT1. I have a buddy that did it in his 87 rx7 with a 94 LT1. I will see if he will give me some pics of it to post.

yeah...my brother (who's old school SBC lover) threw out that idea...just cut a hole in the intake where it covers the shaft for the distributor...

BUT...with the FD, 1. I dont want to run distributor... and 2. i dont have the clearance with my fire wall to do it even if i wanted to. i would have to rig up some dist relocation...

here are some pics for now of his new car. The car should run in to the low 10 to high 9 sec 1/4. The motor came out of his jeep JX that ran a 11.8 in the 1/4 with a 150 shot and the jeep weight in at 4500 ++ it was set up for off road and He had 6in lift and 31intires on it at the time . But now its in car car that weight in at 2700 and he is running the 200 shot but the forged 383 that it is can take a 300 shot all day long.

well there are a few options when it comes to I.C.P.C. (individual coil per cylinder). Personally i dont use them, but i have heard some good things from people that have. The first one is Delteq, and the other is LTCC.

the other alternative to coil-per-cylinder is the dynaspark which is basically an opti the way it should have been engineered. Waterproof and thrives at 7k RPM. Of course the ultimate system would be a combination of the two :)

that is the fallback..cost. If only the technology was available when the LTX engines were developed these things would be monsters..as well some of them are regardless to the opti's problems.

We did coild per cylinder last year on a 95 Camaro. We built a crank trigger and for all extensive purposes got rid of the opti. We are running the BS3 engine management system, but the whole package is definitely not built on a budget.

my next build up will be C.O.P...most likely still EDIS controlled to keep the multiple spark feature.
