I made this almost a year ago. I saw the prices that some companies were charging for there boxes so I thought I could make one just like it for cheaper. Thought I should post it maybe somebody could use this idea and improve on it. This box isn't perfect but it works.
The subwoofer is receiving 250wrms from the amp. And it has plenty of mirror rattling low notes IMO.
I first made a template out of cardboard for the front faceplate where the carpet is mounted.

I used 1/2in. MDF and a brad nailer to hold it together. I used some silicon sealant to seal all of the edges inside of the box. I got the carpet from a bass head friend. Just to experiment I stapled some polyfil inside the box and had great benefits.

I mounted a bass knob in the well underneath the radio with some Velcro dots. I think that these knobs are a must if you are putting a subwoofer setup in your car. It allows you to fine tune and control the amount of bass.

This isn't far off from the subthump box. Good job! You should post dimensions/schematics.

I put the amp behind the drivers seat. It was just barely to big to fit underneath of the drivers seat so I had to put it where the rear floor mat would sit. The wires for the amp are underneath the carpet and the RCA wires run down the center console.

I thought about doing that but I figured Id post it up and if anyone asked I would try to get the dimensions. Ill see if I can make a quick diagram of the box and the measurements soon. And yeah I got some of the idea off of the subthump box. Ill try this weekend to get some dimensions.

If you make rough dimensions with sizes in like MS Paint or something, I can throw it in visio and make it look a little nicer. I just designed a couple different boxes for my Grand Prix. Ended up buying a cheapo box on eBay because the cost of materials was like $90 more.
I used to have a subthump box and a subthump amp rack. The rack was just a slab of MDF with a lip on it, that you had to fasten to the the back panel near the rear hatch assembly. It allowed full access to the t-top well and made it pretty clean. You could always look into building one of those if you don't like your amp location. I had two amps, a cap, and distribution block mounted on mine and the t-tops fit no problem.

Ok that would be pretty neat. Ill make a JPEG with the dimesnions and try to make it legible ;).
That amp rack sounds like a good idea. I remember seeing it online before just never thought of how easy it would be to make. That would be perfect. Maybe ill add another stealth box on the passenger side now and I could go with 2 10s and have plenty of room for the amp......
Thanks for bringing up the amp rack. I might have a new project now. Ill see what I can do with the dimensions of the stealth box.

I like it! If you had to guess how much does the box and speaker weigh together?
Love the sig pic to...that Medium Quasar Blue looks sweet!

The box isn't too heavy , the subwoofer itself is heavier. I don't think it could be anymore then 10-15 lbs but I'm not really that great at guessing weight of things.
I have all the measurements of the box I just have to get it put onto a diagram so it's a little easier to decipher.

How did the amp racks mount? I've heard that they're lag bolted to something somewhere, and I really didn't like the sound of that.

Sumthump amp racks were shipped as a slab of MDF with carpet glued to it. You pretty much had freedom to mount it however you wanted. Most guys would just get creative and figure something out. around the tail light bolts or hatch bolts.

Man...that seems pretty hack. I may have to figure something out better than that.

Similar setup to what I have. I mounted my amp on the plastic trim that covers the spare tire. (On the inside) so you seen no amp no wires and my battery is right there. Very clean setup.

That's about the same for me. Build a cardboard template first, transfer to MDF and start cutting.

Here's a quick plan for the box. Not pretty and its NOT to scale. Threw it together real quickly. It is just the box portion itself, not the faceplate that I made for it to fit inside the "cubby hole".
