I had my dad nab a lt1 block off craigslist for almost scrap cost so i was loading it in the truck when i was back home and looked at it and it was stamped 327 all over the place. I was concerned I didnt get a LT1 block but I called a buddy that knows these better than i do and asked him and he said it was an lt1 block. Here is my question i know at least on Poncho v8s they cast the engine size in the block so why is a lt1 cast with 327 and not 350? I know that this may be stupid but it had me kinda irritated for a little bit.

If I'm not mistaken that is the last 3 digits from the engine casting number from the rear of the block on the drivers side bellhousing flange. Has nothing to do with cubic inches.

Easiest way to tell is the water pump holes, those are different than any other small block. Google image LT1 block picture and see how they match up.
