So I know wehave alot of garage queens and track only cars on here. What are you guystowing with? What trucks/SUVs but more importantly what types of trailers?

I've been thinking about picking one up for the TBSS. I had no idea when I gotthis beast that had such a great towing capacity and I think it would beextremely convenient to have a car trailer. It wouldn’t be for long tows, moreso just for moving stuff around and taking projects to my buddy’s shop mid job.

Post up what ya got! Especially if you have pictures towing your F-Body!

That was after she burnt. Looked good on the passenger side.

We have towed it with alot of different vehicles from a 5.0 5spd swapped 78 ford f100 to a 2000 dodge ram Cummings m6 dually.

We started with a 18' open and a 1500 ram. Now I run a 3500 ram with 40' gn.

That's pretty much the route I went, started with a 1500 and a flat bed and moved up from there. I run a similar rig, except my truck is a 2nd gen and my trailer is red and 2 ft shorter

We have lots of them at the shop...depending on how many vehicle....which vehicle, and how long of a trip.... I can get you info on any of them.... if you have an idea which size you want me to look at. I know there is also a 40' goose neck, and a few other short enclosed...

That was a hell of a rough patch I went through. I'm still paying off the loan. Things have turned around quite a bit which is good. Got married in June '10, and we bought a house in Oct '11. Thankfully my wife has good credit, mine... Well, its gonna suck for a while.

Make sure you get a good brake controller and a trailer with good brakes, your TBSS may be able to get it moving fast, but good luck stopping it ;)

I am in the market for a nice open deck, just do not have anywhere to store it.

2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 5.3L, 4L60E rebuilt for towing, oversize external cooler, homemade CAI, tuned by BlackBear Peformance, Flowmaster 1 chamber. Towing upgrades are Air Lift air bags, 10K lbs weight distribution hitch, and Reese trailer brake controler. Trailer is an 18' PJ 518D 4" dovetail, dual 3500lb axles (only one has brakes), wood floor with slode out ramps. Tows fantastic, keep it below 70 mph and faster than 60. Get a slight run at large hills and allow plenty of room in front of you for stopping. Other drivers will piss you off by cutting in when your trying to allow a safety gap. Total weight with fuel, tools, generator, ATV, 3 people and luggage for 4 days is 12,400 lbs! I would not be afraid to take it anywhere, a quadcab 2500HD with a 6.0 would be nice but this entire setup is paid for!

I have a 18 foot trailer with a dovetail and a 7.5 box thats 16 feet long. If the box trailer was 8.5 I could fit a car in it. but personally I like the open trailer beter. In a few years ill trade it in for a tilt back. I paid 2500 for my car trailer and a 8.5x16 will run 4500 I paid 3200 for the 7.5. You really would want a 18 footer though.

The thing is with a enclosed trailer I think it would be harder to tie down. Plus with my 2013 gmc 3500 6.0 I can get 13.5 mpg with empty car trailer and about 11.5 to 12 with the camaro on it. I can only get 8.5mpg with the box empty or loaded.

Plus odd ball vehicles like my lifted Jeep or a pickup wont fit in a box.

It's not that much harder to tie down in an enclosed vs a flat bed IMO. I've had both and didn't really notice much difference in difficulty.

Small light trailer, probably less than 1,000lbs, car weighs maybe 1950lb empty. Small 5.3l truck, still get 300 miles / 25 gallons of fuel.

If I go bigger it will be a diesel truck and an enclosed, but right now I'm okay with what I got.

I lean over the side of my trailer to hook on to the k member to cross tie it. If it was enclosed I couldnt do that I would have to lay down. I know it sound stupid but sometimes its the little things . Ill add I love having a wood deck. Easy to replace when damaged. Cleans pretty easy with a pressure washer. I also like I can fasten stuff to the deck when I carry odd ball stuff. Also I would make sure to get brakes on both axles my car trailer only has brakes on one axle the box trailer has them on both and it is noticeable. I put a lot of miles on my trailers.

Singles, so they are the weak link, ~3200lb per tire.

Rather than start a new thread, what's your advice on buying a 32-40ft Gooseneck enclosed trailer? I'm looking at getting one next week. Living quarters? Brands? Door placement?

40ft is not long enough for living quarters. Door wise the 48" is not big enough. Best would be a driver side ramp door and a std passenger side door. Make sure you get it pre wired for roof airs. You will need two 15k roof airs to keep it cool in the summer. You could get away with one if you blocked off the back with a curtain.

Brand wise it will boil down to your budget. We have a haulmark. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Get extended ramps if you're car is really low. Decking wise all Diamond plate is a mixed blessing. Easy to clean but it gets Damn hot in the sun. Plain wood gets beat up fast. Out side lights and ac outlets is a big help also.
