Ok, I thought we had a thread about specialty insurance....
But I cant find it... so a quick question to anyone with specialty insurance experience...
Who are you using that is the least hassle.... My Camaro has about 30-35K worth of investment, and its time for me to have it insured for close to what I have into it....
Lemme know please... and a little insight to any hoops you may have had to jump through, if applicable.
Thanks in advance...

I had Hagerty, had my 94 camaro insured for an agreed value of $20k, they only required three pics of the car, must be garge kept, and can't be used for daily driving to work or racing on the track. Very affordable, I think it was like $350-400 a year. Also check out Grundy.

Larry,
I got hagerty a few years back. My car had one reportable accident to State Farm and Hagerty was fine. They asked for 2 ext and 1 int shot due to my appearance mods etc... I covered it for $15K and pay $400 a year for full 0 decuct coverage. They will ask about your DD and if yout Camaro is garage kept. No milage restrictions on the Camaro and I went with the platinum roadside protection which also covers my DD. I was able to drop that of my regular insurance and save a few bucks. Grundy has gotten alot more leinant latley and they offer packages that bundle your collector car with your DD's and even toys (like bikes, rv's etc.) They wouldnt touch my car a few years ago because it was not stock. Both will cover you from "hot pit to hot pit" but no one will cover you while you are racing...just part of the game.. My neighbor has 28 cars with Hagerty and has had a few claims and said they are great to deal with. My folks have 4 with Hagerty and are very happy. My buddy with the 99 FRC vette has Grundy and is happy too, but his vette is 100% stock and NCRS ready. I would contact bith and see, cant go wrong wither way.

I think it needs stock rims. My Dad had to borrow stock SS rims to get his insured. After he took the pics, he just swapped the rims back.

I've looked into racecar insurance but like said above they don't cover the car on the track. Just in the pits and in transit on the trailer. My DD insurance covers the trailer and it's cargo so the only time I'm not covered is at the track (liabilty only). The insurance that covers on track coverage will not insure it on the street. They said if it has registration to be on the street they can't cover it. I found another company that said they will do on track and on the street insurance, I'm waiting on their quote but i have a feeling it's gonna hurt!

I had my zr1s on in the pics i sent them. If i ever want to register the car in DE as a classic it needs to be 25 years old and stock appearing..

Yes, all insurance companies cover you on the road, but at the track you are on your own.. had a friend bite it at Delmar once and he was effed..

Sorry Larry for kinda hijacking this thread. But here is my situation. My caprice has lot of work done to it. Mostly performance. I'm gonna race it but I am gonna drive it around. The problem I have is that my car is too new. Its a 94. It will get towed to most event unless its really close. Its still currently under regular car insurance. So should I get different insurance of stick with mine. Thanks

Its not too new. My 1993 qualified. Give a few collector car insurance places a call. If is just going to be a toy and not a daily they may take it on. You will have to give em an idea of what you want , but The value will be determined by them.

I was able to get collector car insurance on my NHRA Formula through State Farm. $300/yr.
I tried getting a similar policy with my z06 but had no luck. Guess the NHRA formula is a more special car. lol
I tried haggerty and Barrett Jackson's company, but I'm not old enough. I'm 22 and I guess they want you to be 25.

State Far is still my coverage for my house and my daily's. They screwed up big time when I ran the camaro into the ditch avoiding a worse accident. They "steered" me into the direction of a shop that did shitty work, then threatened to total the car for $3.5K in damages. I know I could have taken it to any shop, but the shop they recommended was supposedly very reputable. THe car at the time was still 99% stock and had 41K miles. The adjuster assigned to my case did not give a crap about the car, he thought it was just another 4th gen camaro.. the shop owner was just as bad. When I took it back for a run and cracks in the clear and a crack in the bumper that wasnt fixed right the shop owner harrased me and I almost called the cops but a shop guy there who was cool and trying to help all along got me my car and I left. State Farm finally gave in and paid me for my inconvience and gave me a new OEM front bumper but then wanted me to have the same shop do the work becasue "they smoothed things out." needless to say the bumper is going on when I paint the car this spring. Hagerty and Grundy and the like def tak into account our passions, or time, and our dedication to our car and that is why they can do the agreed value so cheap. It is a calculated gamble for them casue they know we care about our cars and they are not driven all the time.

OK guys and gals this needs to be a sticky so nobody can say they didn't know you can buy insurance for your race car. I'm going to lay everything out on the table to try and help everyone understand how this works.
1) Bisa insurance and I are the same company when it comes to insuring race cars. Bill Flake, Mike Flake and I are in business to write race car insurance for racers and Bill and I felt it made great business sense to bring me into the picture being that I'm a heads up racer and well known in our world of drag racing plus I write insurance for a living which is a win win when it comes to selling the policies and understanding the policy inside and out.
2) I consider myself extremley easy to get in touch with from my office phone 614-861-3100 to my cell 614-989-4168 or email raceins@coiservices.com and of course by PM but that fills up real quick.
3) If you have our insurance your car is covered while racing down the race track, in the pits, while being transported to and from the race track and while being stored against COLLISION, FIRE, THEFT AND PLAIN STUPIDITY. Our policy comes with a 2500 deductible and we cover up to 100K in value. 1 cylinder head costs more than a 100K policy so price should not be the deciding factor. If your willing to have 25 to 100K in your car can you afford not to have it insured? I know there is no in hell I could rebuild mine it I totaled it.
4) We also cover the vehicle in the other lane for 50K in the event you hit it or if you cause damage to another vehicle at the races.
5) We want nothing to do with vehicles on the street..
6) We can cover your trailer and everything inside it from tools to spare parts.
7) We'll pay money for winner and r/u @ NHRA, NMCA, ORSCA, ADRL , NMRA, True Street Racing, Norwalk, Milan, ORTC if you win on Sunday the check is in the mail on Monday. Just email me with what race you won or runner up at and the check is in the mail.
This is a 12 month policy but if you don't race for 5 months a year like I do then you can remove the on track insurance but still have the storage and transportation insurance during the off months.
9) We take all forms of payments from CASH, CHECK, CC and monthly payments with a down payment for anything over 1500 in premium.
10) We can write the insurance at the track and bind it but we would preferre to write it during the week to where we can get all the information at one time.
I hope I have covered everything and if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me. Lets not have another person on here have a car wrecked, stolen or fire damage without this insurance on their vehicle.

I've had Hagerty's for the last 15 years, They have paid on 2 claims without a hitch, hiccup, or complaint, but I checked with NCM insurance. They beat Hagerty's by 50-85.00 per car for the same mileage. I'm trying them out on the 95 Vette, If they continue to treat me right, I'll switch everything over.
