As some of you have seen and helped in the other thread, I am swapping a v6 car to an LT1. So I thought I would make my very own build thread. I hope its OK since I do have a thread already started. It was more to get me started and answer some questions.. This thread will be more dedicated to getting work done on the car.
Here is the 200 dollar roller I acquired a couple weeks ago.... Original Z28 car which was apparently swapped to a 3.4 M5 setup.

Here's a couple engine pics before/after I pulled the 3.4.

Really crazy some one would swap a 3.4 in. Looks lot a good start though, solid car

Looks like a good start you've got. I must say though, its likely that it was an original V6 car that had Z28 badges slapped on it. I couldn't see anyone swapping a 3.4 in lieu of a LT1.

Dunno but we did check all the vins. The guys story has checked out so far. I wouldn't have considered working on it, if the title hadn't been a V8. I've found little signs here and there also. Like missing bolts from motor mounts. The v6 mounts wouldn't bolt correctly to the v8 k member. So they only used two on each side. Wiring harness had been messed with, grommet wasn't in the firewall. And also there was some crazy fan strapped to radiator with "weed eater" string LOL....
Besides, here in KY I'm not surprised at all to see someone blowing up a V8 and swapping a 6 cylinder into it lmao...

Awesome man. The fact that it was an original v8 gives you a little more incentive to do the swap.

Great project car. Looks like you saved it just in time. I'm about to do the same with a 97 V6 car. I'll be watching for ideas and inspiration.
Does it have 4 wheel disc brakes? I know most V6s have drums in the back..

Cheapest and running preferably. Trying to close a deal on a cam only engine with mild headwork here close to the house. Just waiting on the guy to get back in town from doing the holiday thing.....

Ok cool... I was asking cause there was that 383 on here for 2g.... which by no means is cheap... but cheaper than building one.

I saw that earlier. Very good deal. But beyond my budget. This car will be no hotrod. For now anyways....

I had a cast crank in mine once. Read all the reviews and swapped it ASAP! Cost me quite a bit but was better than destroying the engine!

After tracking a bunch of parts down and working on it when I can, I have the engine 90% finished. Here's the pic of the engine. I will be bolting up the transmission soon and installing in the car soon. Already have a buyer LOL....

Oh and I'm having trouble adjusting the valves. Anyone have any tips? I always use sh box method. Spinning the pushrod then going half a turn. After I adjust the valves on tdc #1 I rotate engine to tdc #6 but the valves I just done are loose again. So do I need to go a full turn after zero lash? I thought maybe half a turn isn't enough for stock rockers. The lifters were soaked in oil for a long time too.

Dang my 383 LT1 short block cost me $4750.00. Course it's all forged Made in the USA R.A. and Pro-Gram strapped 2 bolt mains (cost me an extra $650.00 for this).
