View Full Version : how do you check for a leaking\bad fuel injector?

I've already checked everything I can thinl of and narrowed it down to this. What's the best way to check em?

I take them off the intake but leave them on the fuel rail and have someone turn the key on and watch the spray. Alternatively you can wire an spare injector connector directly to 12 volts and it will open them up wide open.

You can check a leaking by taking the rail off with all the injectors connected but connected to the fuel lines. Then just key on to turn in the pump and see if any of them drip.

Why do you think one is leaking?

Because I still smell raw fuel and I've checked the canister and the lines and they are ok. I've also checked for vacume leaks as well as exhaust leaks and found none. I checked the fuel lines and still nothing. Plus the car runs a little rough and the gas milage is poor. I couldn't think of anything else it could be. Oh and I did a diagnostic too just in case. All good.

Oh and I've changed the egr valve and solinoid. Thx guys.

You can check it without taking off the injectors. But you are gonna have to use a fuel pressure gauge. Just connect it, prime the system a few times and the watch and see if it drops quickly.

Koo but that won't tell me which one is bad though. Ill check that first because at least that will tell me there is a bad one. Thx again.
