Well some of you may remember... I adopted this set up... she isnt the prettiest... but she was free from a VERY close friend of mine....

He is the guy that I initially went to to customize my bike over and over again.. then he was my pit guy when we went drag racing with the bike.....

Then he got some leathers and started making some passes with it as well....

Anyways... a few years ago... he and his wife split.. he gave her the house and he was off to CALI.... She stopped making payments, he caught wind that the house was getting taken by the bank... so he called me... told me where to pick up a key... and said to get his tool box out of there (IF I WANTED IT...HA!) before the bank took possession...

Wow Larry, you got a nice setup there! Jealous!

Here's my first ever tool box. My mother in law bought the kit that included the bottom cart and top box and a riser (no longer there) for Christmas in 2003. Before that I was living out of the plastic tri fold that my tool set came in. I shortly afterwards got rid of the riser and put the middle box in. This has been a junk/overflow box since 2006 until the past couple of weeks as I've been setting up a second set of tools for keeping at home now since the new job next month will require my primary box to be at work. Just a couple of teaser shots, as I'm still setting it up.

The socket rails are Pittsburgh from Harbor Freight ($15 for a set of six, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 in SAE and Metric). Sockets/Ratchets are the Craftsman Modules with the Thin Profile ratchets, all USA made. Wrenches and pneumatics drawer to come......

Middle box, middle drawer, just misc stuff:

Middle box bottom drawer, all the 1/2" sockets:

Lower cart, top drawer. All my wrenches. Back sets are Craftsman Industrial, 11 piece SAE picket up for $30, Nine piece Metric picked up for $28. Lower (front) are old school USA made C-Man Reversible Ratcheting Wrenches, both 8 Piece sets. These are my babies and won't be staying at work.

My trusty raised panels (yes, I'm still adding to these).

I do. I'm hoping to be able to swing a 4 piece green handled Snap-On set from the dealer before I move. I want to have those when I get to the shop. But I don't know that I can afford the $130 for them. My boss at the shop has all but the slip joints and they're the BEST pliers I've ever used.

It's funny though, I don't tent to use pliers a whole lot, and it's usually some needle nose, side cutters, and snub nose all get the majority of the jobs done for me. RARELY I'll need long needle nose, but it's been years.

Oh, and my stickers rule. It's either a vendor I've bought parts/service from, or a manufacturer whose parts have been on my own personal car. And I stick to that rule. :D

I got past that real quick. Craftsman doesn't make some of the sizes on the Hansen tray. Like the 15mm 1/4" drive spot.......nope. Annoying? Yep!

THe harbor freight trays are a STEAL compared to the Hansens. Both have their perks. I got the HF ones for my home toolbox because, well, $14 for SAE and Metrics in all three sizes. Plus they're open end up so you can size a bolt quickly.

I have a few socket organizers. Its just that some of my sets (torx & allen for instance) have both 3/8th & 1/4" drive. I want to have them all lined up by size & type, no matter the drive size, in one area. Thinking of getting a piece if 1/4" plate & welding pegs on it for the customized rack.

If its metric, I can pretty much look at it & tell you what size it is.

Pretty nice tool setups people have. I have a couple of Craftsman tool boxes that are like packed full of stuff. I can't get a big tool chest because I take my tools racing every weekend and they have to fit under the bed cover for my truck.

http://i.imgur.com/E8akm.jpg (http://imgur.com/E8akm)
Those are about the size of what I usually always carry in the back of my truck.

I used to dream of getting a big one tool box for the garage, but my friend has about 5000 sq ft of shop space and every damn tool you can think of. I usually just haul my stuff down there and work on it. I imagine if that wasn't the case I would have a lot more tools/rented a small shop space by now.

About a year or two ago I found a Lista box not too far away for $600 or so. I grabbed it, sanded and painted the shell, cleaned and lubed the slides and bearings, added casters etc. It is my main box. I think it is about 60" wide.
26945

A little over a year ago I got these two tall Equipto cabinets from a place in CT for $100 each, plus I threw my buddy who picked them up for me some money for his fuel. I spent a heck of a lot of time cleaning all the slides and bearings, greasy drawers, and also sanded and painted the shells. I have not painted the drawers. Eventually, I'd like to paint them to match the Lista box. I keep tools and all kinds of assorted stuff in these things.

Thank you. $600 is a lot of money for me, but I had to have that box. Before I found that deal, I was resigned to living in 26" Craftsman boxes because no way in heck can I afford to pay what used truck brand boxes bring.

The Equiptos were an incredible deal at $100; they are mammoth. But I can't even begin to guess how many hours I spent cleaning them up. There must be hundreds of bearing assemblies that had old grease that was so hard, the bearings wouldn't even turn. I had to clean each one out individually.

Nice boxes Bull!!!

Those Husky's are decent deals for sure. The full length drawers are quite nice.

For the past few years ive been rocking 2 of the Walmart black friday special tool chests. But this is what the wife is getting me for valentines day this year :) 40" 10 drawer. Great price at 298.00 26959

I use a Husky tool chest setup. Picked it up on clearance at home depot when they was making room for the next year model. You will like it there strong and have nice roller bearing drawer glides.
