why the hell do peole spend thousands of dollars on well thought out either NA or boosted engines then slap some power killing off the shelf cam or stock heads!? i am not talking about just LTx engines, but people from every engine world. it just buggs the hell out of me when i am talking to some one about a killer car they got then bam! crap parts used to get in on the road sooner for 100$ cheeper. its just crazy to see a $10,000 boosted engine barly break 400rwhp because some one did not want to spend the extra money to get a proper cam speced out.......Rant over...cant think straight...

It's because people spend all this time and money, and when the light is finally at the end of the tunnel, they get impatient and try to hurry to the finish line. Or they are ignorant or lack the where with all to double check information ( Before I believe something, I try to find it in at least three different places by three different people who aren't quoting one another ).

i know for me, i think about every steep several times build it in my head, then talk to other very knowledgeable people and get input. maybe its just my curse to over think stuff, but if i am spending that kind of money i deff want it to be worth is in the long run.

mainly what set off this rant was talking to LS guys and them wanting to use a massive cam because "it sounds cool" when it would hurt there motor more then help. i will say i am not the best when i comes to spec'ing stuff like that, but over the past year i have been planing out my build i have talked to MANY experts and have listed and learned from there words. and trying to pass on the knowledge, i get the deer in headlight look or i drive a LTx so im dumb...

I dont think any boosted cars should thrash on a boost tune.... my shit dyno tune to the guys who knew what they were doing was just under 100 extra hp... and night and day driveability!!!

not to hijack, but I have a bit of a rant from another topic. i took care of LTX_outlaw yesterday VIA pm.. i think he is on the right track now and this is not direted at him.
For everyone else, DO 100% NOT believe Autozone, Advance Auto, NAPA, Dealer, buddy that fixes lawn mowers, the bum on the corner, or that other tech when it comes to our cars especially 1992-1993 ltx motors. These cars are getting old and parts are getting mistaken for the wrong ones. The local parts store has access to only thier inventory and how they catergorize things. I can not tell you how many times I had to just go with the correct part in hand or a good known part number to any parts store or my dealer to get the right parts. It is worse with my even older cars.. try finding a carb kit for a 1963 corvair with a factory turbo. How I led LTX_OUTLAW down the right path was some simple google searches and using shboxes site..I dunno how many times that simple combination of 2 actions has saved my ass with my camaro. Also I feel that we are a great community and the is A LOT of knowledge here. PLEASE try to believe most of what peolpe here are telling you. Many of us have been doing these motrs for a long time. My car may not be a 700HP monster but I have personally touched every part of the damn thing in the past 11 years and know what a lot of ppl are going through. Sometimes i feel like my comments as well as others here fall on deaf ears becasue it is not the answer the OP was hoping for or expecting. These cars are frustrating but not impossible. With a litte educated guessing, good question asking / answering, good listening skills, an open mind, and the ability to live through the frustration you can and will solve the LTx issues. /rant

I wouldn't worry about what others do or spend on their cars.
If someone wants to drop that kind of coin on a "bought" car, let em. Most of those folks just want something to brag about.
A flashy ride that looks and sounds cool so they have something to show off to their friends.

As do I and I am no means a guru when it comes to the hardcore power stuff, but my car has plauged me with all kinds of the typical crap that goes wrong and I feel i ahve a good working knowledge of it.
