well, a car like that is just body pannels to make it look like a camaro....most every thing is custom built under that car.

but i can say, are cars are a blast to road race (closed course) with. i have done it with basicly stock suspension, drilled/slotted rotors, and good pads. (though i did warp the rotors 3 times). i think most people would be susprized how well are cars actually handle. As i have told some people, my car is going to be confused, its not sure if its going to be a DD, Drag car, or road racer...

in the Suspension area there are several threads talking about what upgraids to do to get are cars to dive in to the corners.

Are you talking about the scca GT class?

If so our cars can be built to be competitive in this class. But it does involve stripping the car down to nothing. and have proper suspension prep.

I road race my car in the scca. And Im very competitive in the classes i run(amateur). if you have never done this before. I suggest starting out stock. and work your way up. My suspension and car is modded to the point it puts me in a harder field. But it is a blast to do at any skill/class level.

Well not necessarly SCCA racing, I'm talking about any road racing category.. I'm not planning to participate on anything like this, even though I'd love to! Something like this requires tones of money, like you were saying they're almost all custom under the skin, starting with the engine which is usually a custom racing engine

Most if these cars were built in the mid to late 90's on into the early 2000's and were run under the Trans Am name in scca pro racing. The series was canceled about the same time that GM canceled the Camaro/Firebird. These cars are mostly now owned by private individuals that club race them with various clubs. As previously stated they are purpose built tube frame cars with a similar engine (358ci)that the cup cars use putting out around 750-800hp. They are full fiberglass skins using the camaro design but the only body part on them that is stock to a production car is the taillights.

SCCA brought the series back under the Muscle Milk name a couple of years ago. It runs in conjunction with the Grand am weekends at most tracks...

I also run Scca Time Trials in the SEdiv in an 02 Z28, so I'm kind of an SCCA junky. I actually have a hood off of one of those hanging on the wall in the garage...

Interesting, thanks for sharing that man! I'm serious meaning I really that kind of racing but I'm not serious meaning I don't have the money to even think about converting my car into a road race car nor I want to :)

It can get expensive. trust me i got 10 g in my chassis and brakes alone. and that's not counting the tires that go for 1400.00 a set.

But you can do time trial runs in any setup. Its what i do. Just go out there and have some fun!

How about a race with only T/As? Check this video of IROC racing series in 1996!
