Being that it is 2012, and about to flip to 2013....

I think we need to take a light hearted look at a movie that changed and embelished alot of things.... Things that we as car guys LOVE.......

Although we may not all dig NAWS, and FART CANS... it did have a bit of everything for everyone.....

There is no doubt that 1/3 of us will admit we liked it... 1/3 of us will say we hate it (but secretly like it).... and 1/3 will really not have enjoyed it at all.....

2001 RELEASE OF THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS!!!!! Do you believe that this SOON TO BE 6 sequel is 12 years old!!!!


I know that 2001 is remembered for much more serious things....THE TERRORIST ATTACKS, but for just a moment, lets look at the goofiness... the cheesy lines.... the flames comming out of the exhaust....


Not really sure where this thread is going, but I just wanted to say...I was 25 years old... I had just become a cop...... and TRAFFIC PATROL was exciting cause erector winged hondas with fart cans were popping up EVERYWHERE...

I love the movies.... (except for the tokio drift one), and I watch them any time they are on... especially the most recent one... with THE ROCK!!!!

Im actually looking forward to the next one....

I've see enough lame ass clips to know those movies have no entertainment value for me.

I was 21 and liked it when it came out cause it was a movie about underground street racing, which was really big at the time. Unfortunatly, within weeks after it's release too many people believed their Honda was a twin turbo'ed racecar! They started showing up to our meeting spots and following everyone to the "super secret race locations"! This would have been fine but the rally race driving on the way drew too much attention. Then instead of the 4-5 pre arranged races and moving on to a different location, ricers started pulling out at random after two cars launched and began running 3 and 4 wide. Not long after that the countless bikes and "stunt riders" started showing up and made it a production. After that it was all over. Police caught on quick and all the previously secret locations became public knowledge and quickly shed a negative light on drag racing. At least that's how it went down in KC. Happy anniversary to the begining of the end!

I did enjoy the movies but they aren't the best car movies but really we don't have much to choose from. I will take what I can get and they have gotten better with time.

Also with the snot bubbles etc they do give major props to muscle cars. Its not all about Honda's and civics.

We used to do the underground thing here back in the day out in the industrial park in Concord where we were far enough away from everybody that there were literally over 50 cars at a time there and the local authoritys never busted us. I only6 liked FF because of the "real" muscle cars in it and as far as a 10 sec accord goes that is some real movie magic there. The only reason to watch what the I think it was the last one I saw was because The Rock was in it and I like him. I do hear ya on the whole fart can equipped cars because they came out of the woodwork like roaches after these movies hit and if I hear one more stupidhead tell me his car has "noss" on it I am gonna give him a vasectomy on the spot so he can not pollute the population further than it all ready is.

To me the movies are ok. But they did indeed bring a new level of dumbass out. I still run into idiots who saw a car "just like mine", as they put it, in the movie and now they think their car is gods gift. Unfortunately that also meant they'd come to the parking lots we went to and (not even joking) race across it! After chewing them out they finally started going else where (right across the damn street). But by then it was too late and the cops were kicking us out on a regular basis.

I think what ur gonna have is the import crowd now...growing up and reminising about this decade+ and how when they were a kid...this movie...blah blah blah... So i think to an extent thats positive...
I also think your gonna have a fan division.... And different "cliques" will like different sequels of the chain.....

Also after watching the clip with KITT in it (was funny btw) I now remember why these things make me nervous, its because I worry that they will throw parts off and damage my ride.
