I have a 213c and its pretty darn good. I also have use an Ampro impact gun I purchased many years ago. It was untouchable for years. Its getting tired these day, and is no longer red lol. http://www.amazon.com/Ampro-AR3651-2-Inch-Impact-Wrench/dp/B001H0GBLY Its my favorite impact by far. I've been around quite a few.

They were $100 about 6-7 years ago at Advanced Auto Parts. It is still the best impact gun 1/2" I have ever used. I have tried the Nitrocat from Northern. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200400363_200400363 Its a joke IMO. Both my 213c and my worn Ampro destroy it. Ntrocat rates theirs at 1295 ft.-lbs and the 213c is rated at 600. 213c is stronger by far. Nitrocat is made in Taiwan, 213c is made in China, Ampro also china.

We ended up trading in the Nitrocrap for a IR Thunder Gun. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_370269_370269 Its pretty bad ass. Its quite loud and spins slightly faster than my Ampro. If you don't want the Ampro go for the 213c. If you want to spend some more cash, and "sound" cool/break loose some nuts grab the Thunder Gun.

I was just given a 231C by my boss (thread). At the shop we have a Snap-On MG725 and it's incredible. The IR 2135QTiMax is very very highly regarded too. Also performing VERY well and proving to be quite durable are the Harbor Freight "Earthquake" line. Cheap as hell ($95, I have a coupon for $69 right now), very very powerful and showing to be reliable.

I use this one for tough jobs.
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/MT1769A/1-2-DRIVE-COMPOSITE-IMPACT-WRENCH/

But my service manager thinks it's too loud, and seeing as my bay is right beside his desk, i don't use it too much anymore. I also have a 6 year old mac mini composite 1/2" gun, that thing is a pos, been in for warranty 3 times this year. Mac guns are made by aircat, just an fyi. Matco and Snap on are made by ingersoll.

I have one of the older IR Ti guns, bought it back in about 04-05 or so... maybe earlier... All my other air tools are IR also. Not one of them has let me down to date, just regular air tool lube and good to go.

Still works flawless, and the thing is a beast.. Personally I am a huge fan of anything IR, the way these things get kicked around and just keep on going.

for the 10 years i have been in the auto industry, (mainly AF) i want to say all we use are snap-on, craftsman, matco...main company's that hold DoD contracts.

Ours is literally around 2 months old at the shop, and working on Steve's car, it simply would not break the rear suspension (control arm, PHB) bolts loose. I was surprised because it's not met it's match until those came along. Good gun, I won't deny that.

I wasn't bashing. Just saying that I was surprised to find something it couldn't break. I literally was under the car with a breaker bar wedged against the ground on one end, and a box end wrench on the other end, and I was KICKING the box end wrench to get it to break. And even that took a while.

No worries. There was an impeller for a jet ski pump that it wouldn't take off. It took a breaker bar & an old fork leg with lots of heat & 2 180lb guys bouncing on it to break it loose. I can't complain about that. It does need lots of air to get it to hit right.

yeah im deffently hooked on the IR 231c. its not expensive, its there most popular gun, it stays together and after hours and hours of research its seems to be one of the bigger desires that everyone has or had and it really holds up true. plus it has a good tq rating

I skipped the posts so sorry if this was already said, but... I bought this Harbor Freight impact: http://images.owneriq.net/download/images/a/ab2969bf-9ed7-4340-8172-ed59588ffa77-000001.png

I wanted something real nice, but I needed something in a pinch and it was readily available. It has lasted nearly 5 years with no issues what so ever. I've left it outside in the rain, sand storms, dropped it, used it as a hammer, etc. And for $70 or whatever I've got in it I can't complain at all. Not to mention it's taken off just about anything it needed to. It's sheared off a few ARP wheels studs with ease. Only time I've needed more is when I bust out the 3/4" breaker. To be honest I'm almost mad that it hasn't broke, I don't have an excuse to buy something nicer till it does...

I had the Ampro as well that thing was a beast till it bit the big one. It twisted a 3/4 grade 8 bolt right in half on me.

I personally have never had good luck with the IR guns and I constantly oil mine. Though I havent bought an IR gun since about 2000-02. Not saying they are bad just not great. I haven't had good luck with Impacts in general I guess I put a little to much PSI through them.

Was it that one? We all know lots of their crap is, well, crap, but that's one of the gold nuggets I seem to have found. A mom-pop tire shop in town had 3 of them on hoses. I BS'ed with him about how he liked them and he said they are badass. Then I watched his son reel in the air hose, he left the impact attached and dragged it across the lot into the shop. I'm proud of my lil bastard impact.
