I have a 93 S10, reg cab short bed originally a 2.8 5 speed gonna be an LT1 with a 93 M29 T56 built to stage 2 specs by texas drivetrain performance.

Heres where my project takes a different approach then the norm. i am modifing the stock 2.8 TBI harness to run an MPFI small block using a 7747 ECM and a P4 EBL from Dynamic EFI, fully tunable OBD1 setup. My original plan was to get a 96+ L31 vortec 350, which i did for 150 bucks....complete. rebuild it and use the edelbrock proflo xt manifold for a mpfi setup, using an 87-95 remote coil dizzy

But, then ive been thinking about an LT1 since the start, so i got to researching, and think i came up with the perfect setup. Basically keeping the LT1 stock, except ditch the opti for a rear mount dizzy, and ditch the cam driven water pump for an electric one. Then still run it with the EBL from Dynamic EFI, and my moddified engine harness.

Ive got all the parts to do a basic rering and refresh on the short block, and also some yellow LS6 springs and comp retainers and locks to upgrade the heads. will be doing some mild port work as well. i have a couple different cams im thinking about, first is the LT4 Hot Cam, and the other is a comp hydralic roller that is 218/230 @.050 with .529/.543 lift with stock 1.5 rockers and .565/.570 lift with 1.6 rockers on a 110 LSA. I like the higher lift numbers on the comp cam, and also its built with XFI lobes. Which of these would be the better choice with the ECM and tuning capability i will have?

The next big question i have is finding a good machine shop and or person that can do the distributor hole mod to the LT1 intake for me. Ive read several threads about people that have had this done, but the problem is most of them are 4-5 years old and all the links are dead. The main one ive been searching for is John Millican who was www.LT1Intakes.com but that site doesnt seem to exist any longer, and im not sure John is even still around to be honest. I know Lloyd Elliot modded up a single plane for a 98 Sonoma with a turbo LT1 and ive emailed him about modding the LT1 intake and he said he couldnt do it, and didnt know who to recommend.

If anybody has any feedback on my build or knows someone that does the intake mods please post up the info.

Thanks

Thanks, i picked up a 95 F-body LT1 with 140K miles and supposed blown head gasket(s) for 200 bucks complete with harness and computer!!! Also have a second set of good LT1 heads in case the ones on the engine are cracked from overheating.

Im thinking im gonna run the custom comp cam with 1.5 rockers and LS6 yellow springs to get things going, then can change out springs and rockers if i feel the need down the road. Id rather have a 112LSA vs the 110 but the 110 should have a pretty nasty lope and sound mean with the 3" pipes coming off the headers into a custom single 3.5 exhaust.

Now, i just gotta find a place to mod the intake for me. Although i think i may give it a try myself. I seen somebody else that welded a 1/2 thick piece of aluminum plate to the back of the intake to space it up, then drilled the hole for the dizzy and machined it down for the correct height/angle and it seemed to work out for him.

In all honesty, going with the dynamic EFI EBL setup, and modding my stock V6 harness its just as good, and maybe better and def alot cheaper than going with a custom harness from CP and then having to buy LT1 edit or HP Tuners. It wont be a sequential setup, but seq injection is more for emissions that power. I will have high speed on the fly tuning. Now i just want to figure out how to get a 7" tablet to do the tuning rather than have to have my laptop in the truck all the time. But 7" windows tablets are pricey atm.

Yeah ive read thru that site a few times, and in all honesty its not all that hard to locate the hole. I bought a slip collar used to adjust distributor installed height, mainly used in tall deck big blocks, but since you have to have a 1/4" spacer and it needs to have the 5 degree angle, im going to have the slip collar machined down to a 1/4" and have the 5 degree angle machined into it and should be good to go with a gasket on either side, and a bolt threaded in from the bottom acting as a stud for the hold down bracket with some loctite, everything should stay tight, locked in place and not leak.

Thanks for the link and info.
