My z gets warm but not as warm as it should through the heater. If its really cold it never really warms up. The temp gauge stays at around 180ish on a hot day and 160ish on a cold one so I'm going to change my thermostat. How much antifreeze am I looking at losing when I do the swap? Also should I be concerned with draining some to protect the opti which is my main concern actually?

you are going to lose some and get a little on the opti ... just get a absorbent rag and stuff it down behind the Tstat housing

If it stays about 180-160 I don't think you t stat is your problem, unless you have a stock one and want it to run hotter. I'd look into flushing the heater core, even 160 is plenty to generate warm air out of the dash.

i flushed mine out today and now i have EPIC HEAT. i have green coolant i just put in when i re did the opti (i flushed the radiator and block) but i had never done the heater before ... well brown/orange old coolant stuff came out and after flushing it for a bout 3 min the water was coming out clean. so i then reversed the flow and more gunk ... i did this about 5 times and got it all out ... now my heater is every bit as hot if not hotter then a hairdryer ... on high heat and max fan if you hold you hand in front of the vent for a few seconds it burns your skin.
