ok, so me and one of my friends have had this huge rivalry over the past 2 years...replacement for displacement, boosted 4 bangers vs. N/A v8's, ect....

now this kid has a sr20 swapped 240sx running 14 pounds of boost, and has quite a bit of camber because he likes drifting.:laugh:

And me....of course rockin the bone stock LT1.

Now, every time i have tried to race him, he will always try to find a excuse to not race me (too many cops out right now, not fully tuned right now, boost leak, ect...). Now he is getting really cocky and calling me out on facebook and calling my car a gay, slow, heavy, retarded piece of crap. Now, when he is finally ready to race me, i am having vacuum/running lean issues.

I dont know much about the sr motors, but i know people who have ridden with him say its really fast, but those people have never ridden in my car and generally drive really slow cars in general. Anyone on here know what those things are capable of?

i want to roll race him because of my 2.73 gears, but he says we can do that and do some digs cause i have more torque...

any advice, or words of wisdom about those cars?

Dude, honestly, from a dig, you've pretty much got him. If he's running excessive camber because it's a drift car, he won't get any traction off the line. If he tries to launch at all, he is going to spin bad. I have a friend who has an LS1 swapped 240, which is also set up to drift, and you can't get traction off the line if you try to launch it. The way a drift suspension is set up basically eliminates the majority of the weight transfer, which means he's going to shock the tires really hard if he tries to come off the line at anything other than idle. He's really shooting himself in the foot for wanting to do a dig race. The fact that he wants to dig race you, even with you being bone stock, show's he's not quite the brightest tool in the shed.

Also, a quick search on youtube, and the 240sx's running stock sr20 motors are running mid to high 14's, just found a video of a sr20 swapped 240 running 14.01 @99 mph. I wouldn't sweat him too much. Sounds like a punk running his mouth to me. My old 01 V6 firebird could wax his ass, the fastest it ran before I got rid of it was a 13.6.

Eitherway, if he's set up for drift, he's in for a nasty surprise when he tries to launch that thing. The sr20 motors aren't the monsters everyone makes them out to be either. IIRC, they are meant more for high rpm roadcourse type work rather than drag racing. I wouldn't be terribly worried about him. How good of a driver is he? Is he manual or auto?

Just cause he can drift a little don't mean he's a good drag racer. From the looks of the videos he's and adequate drifter at best. I know a guy who would make him look like he's taking the corners normal. I wouldn't be that worried about it. Don't psyche yourself out just cause the guy knows a little bit about getting a little sideways lol. Drift cars are not drag cars, they are about as far on the opposite end of the spectrum as you can get.

your car seems to be running as it should, CRX's are mid 15 to high 14 sec cars from the factory. I honestly don't see anything you have to worry about from your drift buddy in a dig race.

If you have vacuum issues and running lean, I would track down the vacuum leak first. Likely it is something that is very close to the intake manifold and is allowing extra air into the system, which would cause the car to run lean.

he's definitely got him from a dig. Have you ever rode in a car that is set up for drift? Those things have no give in the suspension and literally ride like roller skates. Drift dude doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell from a dig.

SR20 swapped cars are not that fast, and this kids car is set up for drift, which means he will get no traction, period, if he tries to drag race from a dig. The OP should smoke him off the line and then either hold his position or continue to pull on him slightly, if this race even happens. Drift car and traction do not belong in the same sentence, at all.

Take my advice and run at the track. You dont want to lose your ride, your license, and pay several G's in legal fees racing on public streets. It happened to me back in '00. It's a gut wrenching feeling watching you car get towed away while your sitting cuffed in a patrol car.

well, i know of a spot, there is a abandoned detour road, no one ever uses it except for a small freight company, but thats about a quarter mile past where you let off at. the quarter mile is marked off and everything

While the area in general kind of sucks, that's one nice thing about living in the cleveland area. There are at least 4 drag strips and there are two road courses within 2 hours of my house.

I told him cold weather and launching dont get along very well. And then he called me a pussy because he is the one that would spin and i should man up and run him...fast forward to today and i told my friends about what happened the day before and one of them approached him about what he said and he denied every bit of it LoL
