So I want to ask my girlfriend to marry me, but I'm a little chicken shit about it. I want it to be perfect because well she is the one obviously...I'm just not sure how to do it. Any ideas at all?

That's all you man. Every relationship is different. Be creative, be unique.

Haha, yeah, gotta agree with Fastbird on this one. Just give it a little thought and it'll come to you. I proposed to my wife on christmas morning. That's the only thing she wanted for christmas, and she would have been really, really disappointed if I had gotten her anything else. I did play a little joke on her though, lol. I had my mom put some lead ingots in a really nice box with really nice paper inside. But that was just the distraction so I could get the ring out of my pocket without her noticing.

Personally I was going to wait for the right time to propose but when I got the ring I couldn't wait. I rushed over and dropped to one knee. It really depends on yours and hers personalities. Larry did his big where mine was me and my wife only. But let us know how it goes and congratulations for finding one worth keeping.

Ever relationship and person is different. Do what feels best.

I had a huge night planed for our 5 year anniversary.

Then i talked to my wife dad. He said NO. And he said he had his reservations about me marring his daughter. And said lets talk about it more in a few weeks at his birthday party(2 weeks after i planed to ask).

So i got in my car drove 2 hours back home. Walked in the door and asked my wife to marry me before we went to walmart.

Then knocked her up 6 months later.(son was junior best man at our wedding 6 weeks ago.)

Showed him whats up. Don't respond to the word no to well.

Im by no means an expert... but two things i knew it had to have.... number one...the element of suprise.... number 2... i wanted her to get the attention she deserved when i did it...in front of people we cared about and vice versa....

Not saying that a good way of doing it. LOL my wife has very conservitive parents. And Im covered in tattoos and piercings. And he knew i had a temper and got into a lot of fights(wife broke me of that lol). So i didnt fit into his image of a son inlaw. But were good now.

Larry - I'm starting to realize we're a lot alike.

I don't have the best of pics since I'm at work - I proposed to my wife at my yearly car show. It was 2007 and it was the year our show really took off. The night before, as if I wasn't nervous enough, Scott Settlemire called my cell phone and said he was going to be bringing some "special vehicles" and needed areas of shade. It was the first time I had talked to Scott and it was one hell of a high to be getting a call from GM to come to my show which two years ago was only 25 cars. Early the next morning, the day of the show, Scott drives up in a yellow Z06 with a big rig behind him. They lift the gate of the truck and I see the rear of the 2007 Camaro convertible concept -- I about died. There was another car on top that I didn't recognize at the time but later found out it was the Cadillac Sixteen concept. Scott said "I hope you don't mind me bringing a Cadillac to your show, but I have to remove it from the truck to get the other car out..." I couldn't believe it when he got the Caddy out and I could see the 2006 Camaro concept in the car too. He staged both of them under a tree but while he was getting the 2006 Camaro concept out, I quick moved my car around and snagged a couple pics of my car next to the concept. It was the first time they had the 2006 Camaro Concept and the 2007 Camaro Convertible concept at the same show. They were on their way to Eyes on Design the next day and our show was technically on the way so they used that as the excuse to be able to bring the cars there. It was the first year GM came to our show, and since then Scott and the Camaro group have been absolutely amazing coming to each of our shows and bringing Camaro preproduction mules, captured test fleets, etc with them... They really spoil us. :jest:

Oh yeah about the proposal -- WHATEVER YOU DO... Don't start yours out like I did. My best friend said "If I see your lip quivering like you're going to tear up, I'm throwing a box of kleenex at you." So there I am on one knee and I had planned to start with "Angie, the past year you've been the biggest pain in my ass, but you've also been my best friend, my companion, lover, and I've had the best time of my life with you..." I made it to "you've been the biggest pain in my ass" and then started to get teary eyed so I wrapped it up right there and said "Will you marry me?" :spit: It's amazing she said yes.

That's funny you mentioned your proposal Meissen, I told Larry about the similarities between your proposal and Larry's when I was at the Shootout.

Wow these all seem like great stories, and very well done. I'm kinda scared she'll say no and also I'm nervous how to ask and where.

It's an intimidating question but you just gotta pony up and give it a go. Dont worry bout being nervous, every guy that's asked was nervous, shaky, choked up etc. Like the Nike commercials say, just do it.
