Baller. No more tire size figuring, no more calibration box wiring and troubleshooting, just a simple speedo signal that's GPS based. What do you guys think? Granted, burnouts and dyno readings aren't there anymore, but very very cool idea I think.

What if you were ignant (slanged) to the improper operation of your equipment?

I have been told by the California highway patrol here that there is no requirement for your vehicle to even have a speedometer let alone it be accurate or working, but that could just be the united socialist republic of California.

I wish I could say it would be ok... but ignorane (at least in PA) is not an excuse, and if you try to say that you dont know if it was accurate, the Officer will show their equipt certification that says theirs (Ours) is accurate....:(

That may be in Cali... however I can tell you in PA... if a vehicle came with something from the factory it must WORK..... Example... If your car came with fog lights... the law says, they must work.... If your car did not come with them and you added them... different rule...
How you like that BS>... lol

On a different note.... I love the idea because I saw BLUEBOTTLEZ doing the calculations for his wheels and tires, with my old gears, so that he could order the closest tranny speedo gear for his 93....

They are like that with the big rigs but not so much with the cars and trucks, kinda find it hard to believe someplace could be worse for draconian laws than Cali!
The world is coming to an end LOL.

What are you using for calibration? Ill be wiring the SGI5 into steves car this week. I recommend tapping the speedo signal wire under the dash after the split for the cruise....that way it still functions properly.

That sounds like a great idea - I use CarHome Ultra on my phone and it displays MPH in the "home" screen of the app - I notice it usually is dead even with what my speedometer says.

the Autometer thing says needs no calibration, just a 1 button push?? i will have to order it and see what the wiring is like. I have no cruise anymore, but will look to wire it there. I have to fugure out where to put the little antenna.

update:
I mounted the antenna in the under the a-pillar trim. I mounted the box in the armrest console. It is 1 button calibration and it works well. I dont have a speed right away after starting the car sometimes untill it grabs a GPS signal. The odometer only clicks up when thwe speedo is on so my milage is a little off. I need to re do where i cut in the signal wire casue i have no reverse lockout now, but is an easy fix. Overall this unit works well
