And then the transmission in my truck decides to go out. I guess I'll be rocking the Camaro every day for awhile. Oh well, not a huge deal :D. I was really looking forward to having it as just a weekend car, though. My drive to work is about 50 miles round trip every day.

I hear ya. My DD threw a rod 2 weeks before my camaro was running. Fortunately my dad has 2 cars so I DD one of those. Every once in awhile I take my camaro to work which is about 50 miles round trip. Such a gas hog!

Bummer man. But hey, you get to enjoy the ride that much more, right?

That right, Sean. I just really didn't want to HAVE to drive it. It's ok though. Could be worse. The weather is nice and should stay that way for awhile. It kinda sucks with the timing. I'm getting married next month, so money has already been tight for awhile. Also going to try to save up the money without pulling anything from my motor fund. Its a 4x4 S10, so its necessary that I have the trans done by winter. I should be able to do it, but it will be ~1K that could have went toward the Camaro. Good thing is I think that is the only weak link in that thing. I bet the 4.3 lasts for another 100K.
I called a shop and was told anywhere from $1600-$2100. I thought about it, but I can't bring myself to spend that kinda $$$ on the labor part of it. I have a builder for transmissions and rear ends. I'll have him do it and just yank and install by myself. I guess I could use a transmission jack anyway, but I honestly didn't want to mess with it.

Haha I'm in the same boat as you. My daily driver chucked its timing belt the day after the first successful dive of my Impala. I have now been driving it about 60 miles every day. I second the gas hog notion. 10-13mpg is rough.

As far as the 4.3 my father on law bought his truck new in 95 and he is wide open or sitting still and it has ~330,000 miles on it. Had other stuff tear up but the motor is still going lol. Good motors. Don't know what you guys mean by gas mileage. I fill my z up and drive it roughly 220 miles to ga, raced a Mercedes three or four goes ( I won btw), had 3/4 tank. Drove it roughly 150 miles back and forth to work everyday while playing here and there and had a 1/8-1/4 left Friday lol.

Yeah, I think that S10 will be as good as new after the trans.
I have been enjoying driving my car. Its not so bad, I just clean it alot more now. I'm sure I won't be singing the same tune when the weather is nasty though.

I used to DD my Chevelle but 7 mpg, and no A/C sucks :( but it looks damn good lol.
But on the bright side now you know the Camaro is ready to go when/wherever you want.
