I can't get my car to go into program mode. I am trying to get a key fob programmed. I don't know where to start as far as diagnosing goes. I haven't gotten the locks to cycle a single time. I do not have an original to test (broke).

A couple of notes:

-Security light is on and flashing. I suspect that this is a big clue to the problem.

-VATS bypassed via VATS bypass module wired into the PCM.

-TDR is also bypassed as well.

-Steering column has been changed.

-Other than the program mode problem, the BCM appears to be working fine.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to send the car into program mode in its current condition? I was thinking it may not be a possibility give everything is bypassed on the car. Surely someone else has ran into this. If so, where do I start diagnosing? Maybe there are some diagrams I can use and check voltage at the BCM?

I'm really not wanting to buy a new BCM to have it programmed on the first key cycle.

If the Security light is on and flashing, the car shouldn't start?? Not sure what bypass you did lol

Bypassed the VATS and the TDR. The car has all of the anti-theft bypassed that I am aware of.

Here's a question. Has anyone who has done VATS bypass successfully gotten their car into program mode? As in someone with VATS bypass (no resistor- security light on) I was thinking maybe the BCM won't go into program mode due to the wrong resistor being in the key. If anyone has gotten a fob programmed with their security light on, please chime in so I can rule that out.

How about anyone who has had their VATS deleted via tune? Just trying to get an idea of where to start. If it works after the !VATS from tuning, I will probably just wait until my cam and tune to worry about it.

Makes sense to me at this point. I have not made any progress whatsoever on this. All other BCM functions work just fine with everything else. I'm thinking it might just need the correct resistor and the security light off in order to go into program mode.
