I am trying to plan out which direction I want to take my camaro. I am between just going NA and throwing a set of LE2 heads and cam package in it or throwing a set of forged rods and pistons in it and throwing a supercharger on it.:hmm: I really dont have a goal in mind I just do this stuff for fun and it is what ever it is.
I will be upgrading the car to a 24x setup and upgrading the rear axle to 12 bolt as well as the transmission. the biggest struggle for me is I can not run long tubes.
So what are your guys opinions?

Emissions if I had to guess.
In your situation, I'd throw the blower at it. You can make a TON Of power and still be emissions legal.

I have to have a cat and it has to stay in or around the factory location.
I limit my self to about 3-4 g a year. The thing is that I also am not looking to make a 600 rwhp car. if i make 450-500 I would be estatic 400 would be great. I am going to do a 24x conversion and a preformabuilt transmission next year. the axle next winter then I will get ready for the engine. I like to plan things out and keep an eye open for good deals. I dont like to rush stuff.

why are you wasting money on a 24x for 400hp being great?
we all have cats. where are you located? they are that strict on emissions and visuals? i just passed emissions with full long tubes no cats and no emissions on the car

I am wasting my money on a 24x because I want more reliability out of the car I dont want to go through a puddle and think gee am I going to have to walk home today. Plus its getting harder to find people to program are computer but getting someone to program a ls1 computer in my area is a piece of cake. Also haveing the 24x system allows me to grow in the future if I chose to. I live in NY we only have visual inspections on 95 and older cars. No one with an inspection license wants to get caught not properly inspecting a car in ny because the fines are to hefty.
I think I like NA better, makes me feel that the engine doesn't need any help.. pure and honest muscle :)

And boosted hp is not "honest?"

Depends on how you look at it :) I like the old feeling of the NA car, just like the good old 60s muscle cars, I have friends with boosted cars and you know I like it but to me is just not the same, just a matter of taste

Ok, fair enough... have you ever driven a boosted v8?

I won't lie.. I haven't driven a boosted v8.. I have seen them and raced one and do know they make extreme power but if you give me the choice of making 500hp with an NA car vs making 500hp with a boosted car, I'll go NA, as I was saying before, just a matter of preference..

Your right... but for the OPs sake, remember the same and more power can be made with FI, less compression, more DD capable, on PUMP gas... and better fuel mileage...... :)

I think I am going to go the FI route on the camaro. You have to remember I will have an lt1 in my 69 corvette which is about similar wieght and gearing to the camaro. I drive my camaro every where though and keeping it as a nice street car is important to me. Gas millage is a bonus but having fun with my car is my priority with it.
I have to do a lot of homework I dont want to do a crazy build on it. I am thinking changing out the rods and pistons and forging them while using the stock crank. Since my power goals are low and I havent heard of any one breaking a stock crank I think I should be fine but please correct me if I am wrong. the engine has about 10-15k since rebuild. I plan on getting a preformabuilt tranny stage 1 and a 12 bolt with 3.42 or 3.73 not sure which. As state earlier I do plan to Install a 24x system. Any advice you guys can give will be great as to which supercharge would be good so on. Like I said not looking for big power. Just want to do something more and something different then what I have now.
Now i have a 3600 vig stall I have read that high stalls with FI arent great. Is this true or can I still use this converter?
Currently the car is a stock rebuilt short block with a CC502 cam and 3600 stall. Stock heads.
