Its amazing when you have a ton of time to figure things out cause your broke and you have nothing to do but think of ways to spend the money you don’t have. So instead of just replacing a few pistons and the head gaskets might as well go the distance. Now I’m working on installing a MSII engine management and Ford EDIS-8, injectors, forged pistons ARP hardware and a bunch of other goodies. Here are the pictures of the progress with the EDIS stuff. This is from design to finish.. well almost finished. Here is a good place to get informed about the EDIS stuff. http://www.projectlt10.com/content/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=1 (http://www.projectlt10.com/content/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=1)

This is a bracket a I came up with to hold the VR (variable reluctance) sensor… and it bolts right where the opti used to reside.

Here is the wheel after getting it back from the EDM. Man it turned out good…

Well I ended up adding a revision to the design. I got a ATI balancer hub and now where I decided to key the factory hub is not going to work with the ATI. So since this happened I decided to make the wheel concentric to the ATI hub to minimize runout. But I still mocked everything back up so I could get everything lined up and ready to go. Although this is not the final 36-1 wheel you can get the idea.

So how are you actually plugging the hole in the timing cover? Otherwise, this looks like a nice setup. Good job.

I'll most likely either weld it up or try to find a couple freeze plugs to fit them.

So far its just cost a little time for the design. The EDIS-8 stuff I picked up for $100 on ebay. The Machine work I lucked out on and it cost a case of Bud. The MSII was like $460 with the harness so all in all it will total around $600 plus injectors for the entire engine management.

Very impressive! It takes some thought to integrate EDIS into our cars.

Subscribing!
I think that I still have all of the EDIS8 stuff out of a lincoln mark8. I think that the connector that goes to the EDIS module is the only thing that I dont have.

10-4, lets just be sure this works out first then we can tackle yours. I just need to put a little more casholine together for the engine and a few other things and we'll be ready to start testing it out.

I like what your doing but I found some info on the edis that I couldn't get any real numbers on. I almost did the same thing as your doing but I finally just put a carb on it. I may be going back to fuel injection because of changing jets and the 3 circuit carb problem I found. But it seems like some people that go with the ford EDIS ignition have a similiar rpm problem that are ecm has. Some module start to mis fire at highter rpm's. It will be interesting seeing how this works oout for you.
Keep us up to date.

Still waiting for the new wheel to come back... hopefully in the next week or so. The only downside is I won't be able to get the car running until I get the rest of the engine parts which could be around the end of January beginning of February hopefully sooner.

I have Run MS on other cars I love it, I am glad someone pointed me here.
If you make another bracket and wheel you have a buyer right here.

I'm still working out a few bugs with the setup. I'm ditching the EDIS completely and going to LS1 coil near plug with the same trigger wheel setup and MS-II. It will still be a wasted spark setup but it will be fully controlled by the MS instead of having the EDIS control the spark (not to mention it will be a lot cleaner look). This will allow a 2-step function, a soft rev-limiting and much higher RPM levels.
Once I have the setup locked down I will become a vendor here and start to gauge interests. Sorry for the delay I'm waiting on the ECU to come back and to find a set of coils and I'll be ready to rock and roll again.
On a side note I have priced out the bracket, wheel, and components to mount it up and I think it's going to be a pretty sensible solution for the unlucky opti guys.
