View Full Version : Question for all those heavy metal fans; what is your favorite guitar solo?

This is not a question to be answered with "Stairway to heaven" by Led Zepplin. This is more towards the newer heavy metal of say the mid to late 80's to today.

Wondering what everyone's favorite heavy metal solo is, or just one that you like right now. Feel free to post YouTube links.

I'll go first to give an example. I'm really loving the sound of Five Finger Death Punch - Salvation guitar solo.

Oh man......there's a bunch that I like. Some of my top choices:

Ugly Kid Joe -- So Damn Cool (second half of the solo is incredible)
Metallica - Blackened (first half of the solo is thumbs up)
Ozzy -- No More Tears (just baddass)
Stained -- Not Again (most recent I've found I've liked, because it mixes a very very mellow intro with some good thrashing to back it up)

This stuff is probably too hard for most of you guys but my favorite bands are miss may I and the word alive....no specific songs for solos, I just thought I would share. I love five finger too!

Yeah those bands are out of my listening circle although I do like some five finger death punch.

Been listening to the bleeding and far from home a lot. Hate to say it but acoustic version of the bleeding is the better version. Has more feeling in it

Estranged is definitely good, not what I'd call heavy metal though. Both GN'R and Met-llica are two of my very favorite bands. I can't think of any solos at the moment, there's way too many. I just had to reply since, you know, metal.

Most anything Pantera, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Ozzy (Randy being best, Some Zak too), Motley Crue, ect...

Gonna have to give this one some thought before I answer, but two that shoot right to mind are one GNR and one Motley favorite of mine :

Nighttrain solo - GNR (Slash's absolute best)
Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue

I could also list almost every Pantera and Metallica song here, but Im going to give this some more thought before I answer...

I know both of you are metal heads like me, and I am interested in what both of you have to say.

Bringing this one back, although many of you guys most likely dont like this CD (everyone hates on these two albums, but I think everything they did right up to S&M was gold) :

Solo from Outlaw Torn - Metallica

Its a short one, but that ones got some feeling in it...
