I know that neither are sponsors here (hell, is anyone right now??), but I wanted to share my story. FI Performance is a big vendor for some pretty nice Vette stuff, and one of their biggest sellers is the Spa Techniques dual gauges, some pretty high tech stuff.
So in my T/A I have the Spa Techniques DG216 Boost/Fuel Pressure gauge. I bought it in the fall of 2010 right before......that.......but got it on the car running. And though the boost side was fine, the fuel pressure side wasn't. Fast forward to fall of last year, I come home, same issue. Then a new development, the boost side starts throwing a fault too. Contact Brian @ FI, he spoke with and then put me in touch with Morgan @ Spa Techniques. I FINALLY get around to contacting Morgan in early March of this year, and he says send the gauge in. So I comply, and lo and behold, the gauge was programmed wrong......but that means it has to go to Europe for reprogramming.
I FINALLY get the gauge back last week. Get it in the car today and the boost side is still throwing a fault, and the fuel pressure side is reading VERY odd.....like -2.5-3.5 (as in negative) PSI at idle......not right. Call Spa Techniques and talk to Brad, he gives me a couple of ideas. I rezero, no change. Brad confirmed that the pressure senders are ALL the same, so on a whim I swap the wiring around. Boom, I get fuel pressure. The lines from the gauge were marked backwards. Call Brad back, explain, he was extremely apologetic but was happy it was figured out. He then mentioned since I was still getting a fault to check the plug for the gauges itself, he said sometimes those pins push out when you connect the gauge. Sure enough, the power feed for channel 1 (boot pressure) had pushed back. Just a normal Molex style pin, so I bent the arms outwards and reseated it, and I now have a completely functioning gauge finally.
Just wanted to say that FI Performance and more importantly Spa Techniques have both been VERY helpful vendors, especially considering the product in questions was WELL out of warranty.
