After my car sits for awhile if i go out and try to start it i have to crank it over for like ten seconds for it to start. But if i cycle the key 3 or 4 times then start it it fires right up. So im thinking fuel pump is weak any suggestions?

Fuel pump could be week. Best way to check is by obtaining a fuel pressure reading at the service port on the fuel rail.

When you initially key on, do you hear the pump prime? That's the first indicator I got when mine went out was no prime.

Sounds like the fuel pump is weak to pressurize the system. If it only does it after it sits for awhile, it's probably because the pump is allowing the pressure in the lines bleed off quickly. But it depends on how much time we're talking - a few hours or 24 hours. Get a fuel pressure gauge and then it might be time to cut a trap door! :)

If it sits for an hour or two its hard to start. And yes i do hear the pump prime i might just b paranoid but it doesnt sound as strong as it used to when it primes

If it runs fine otherwise I would say it is the check valve in the pump assembly bleeding off the prime.

Get the fuel pressure regulator and take a look. Like said above, the check valve could be allowing it to leak down. As long as you're maintaining proper pressure while running, idle, cruising, WOT, etc then it's no big deal - it just means that your pressure bleeds off when the car is off. My dad's aftermarket Walbro 255 pump bleeds off immediately - came from the manufacturer that way. It takes a few cranks for it to start but once it does it runs fine and maintains proper pressure so we just left it.

36 psi idle, 41 psi when i rev it, and 48 when i pull vaccum line off fpr

My Z has been doing the same exact thing. After a few hours it takes a little time to get it started. But runs great and starts back fine til it sits. Hope u find a solution, may help me too...

Mine is much worse. I can cut it off and its hard to start back up. I figure its the check valve as mine is fine when it starts as well
