I aways get the same feeling in my stomach when I run my car. I use it for motivation. It's more than likely adrenaline, and you need to use it to your advantage that is always the way I look at that "nervous" feeling.
Think about it, it's not your first time at the track. You know how to stage. Light the top bulbs, slowly roll into the second as soon as you see them stop. You should be able to take your foot off the brake and the car will stay still (as long as the starting line is flat). Go when you see the 3rd yellow and your golden!
Again, the nervousness is all part of the fun of drag racing. Use it to your advantage:metal:
Oh yeah, the most important thing is HAVE FUN!!!

Short stage it! What tires are you using?

My advice, Dont worry about beating the person in the other lane, focus on your side. Just try to run as best as you can.

Just take it easy. Possibly drive the car hard on the way there to make sure you have the launch and shifting down that will take away some of the jitters. If you'll be running a DR do a big burnout, that might help you calm down as well, but don't do it on street tires, I learned that the hard way:whistle:.
My first time down the track was a runday sunday in the TA. Sitting there in FL summer heat for about 2 hrs in staging is what really got to me. I think I ran an 18 something at 105 spinning and sideways for the first 330', I slipped off the clutch too quick. I couldnt go back and try to do better either because I chewed up a couple gears in the posi:doh:.
Running my car up here in PA was the first I had been down the track since that embarassing performance

That last Sentence says it all. HAVE FUN. Watch the car in front of you so that you can see what they are doing. Anything that you might be nervous about or what you have forget since the last time you were at the drag strip that car in front of you will remind you. Good luck and enjoy your self!

OK.. I honestly don't even know if F-bodies have traction control... if it does.. don't forget to turn it off.
When running my dad's vette I TOTALLY forgot about it.

Steph what tires ya running?I'm pretty sure she's running street tires, so she just needs to give them a quick spin to clean the tires off.
Just be careful and keep progressively pushing yourself a little harder. You'll feel more comfortable launching the M6 the more passes you get under your belt.

You don't spin street tires, its pointless.....Infact it's worse if you spin street tires because they glaze easy.
(Steph just go around the burn out box and just easy the clutch off idle)

So what happened????

Well when we got there we got 1 tech card and 2 arm bands.. Phil filled out the tech card with his info, and he said that after he got a few runs in that I would just run it without spending another $15 on another tech cards... so anyways I let (phil) Mpe331lx run it a few times, and he ran consistent 13.1 @ 107.. (The time slips are out in the car and its almost 1am so ill type them up tomorrow) !!
so after that I wanted to go, so I waited in line for about 45 minutes, (there were SO many cars) and when I got up to the front, the guy asked me if I had a tech card, and I said ''well no but I have this arm band but this is my car'' and he made me get out of the car :( I was SOO dissapointed... and it was towards the end to where I wasnt going to be able to go get a tech card and get a run in because of how many cars were there and how little time was left..
I was so excited to run my car, and when I got up there and there was only one car ahead of me, I just wanted to get out there and see what kind of time I could get, when he told me I couldnt run it I got very sad :(
But I am happy with the times my car got considering the very little things I have done to my car!
I am going back on Thursday, and getting MY own tech card, I am not doing that again!

That sucks, here they tech by car. Once the car is teched in, they write a number on the windshields and your good to go. They have no way of knowing if the driver is actually the one on the tech card, but I guess that's why your track is better than ours.

yeah I was sad..the bitch that teched us in, actually told the guy at the line '' there was a guy driving that car before, that girl doesnt have a tech card'' when the guy told me to get out he said he would have let it go but because she said something he had to follow the rules.. the lady was a bitch to me from the moment I got there... but I understand she was just following the rules.

The card you fill out stats that YOUR gonna drive and no one else, I've got caught before. From what I understand its a NHRA Track Rule now :(

Her car is pretty similar to YFZ's... Full exhaust and tune... ~290rwhp, IIRC.

Thats pretty much the way it usually works there. I always drive my friends cars and make a couple passes to tray and get a better time than them. It's the first time I had ran into that problem, but going from a guy to a girl driving is a little more obvious than two guys with helmet's swithing drivers.
On another note, we are very happy with the cars performance. It was at full weight, with heavy 17's up front and even the baby seat in the back, lol. I am pretty sure that it is only a good launch away from a 12.8-12.9. Knowing that I was taking a chance launching on the DR's with the 10 bolt, I slipped the cluth out of the hole to get the car going.
We'll post the slips later:)
