My whole family is struggling right now. I dont know how much longer my internet is gonna be on. lol.

My dad and i are both in construction work and it has just about stopped. We've been lucky though to have the work we've had.

I worked 12 hours last week and everytime i have the money saved up for a tranny for the camaro i have to pay bills with it.

Try not to sell the camaro, you will regret it. But, if worse comes to worse, i may have to sell my camaro b/c two fbodys dont make sense at all when money is the way it is, but i do know i could get more for the camaro than i paid for it, so there is a positive side.

i havent worked since june. luckily i have very few monthly bills (less than $150/mo for car insurance and cell phone) and have $0 debt whatsoever and around $11k in the bank. i basically spent the last few months stockpiling my $290 unemployment. it just ran out a few weeks ago

Yup... broke. Work problems, paying tuition at school, as well as some medical bills.

i have had people suggest i should go back to school for something else since i'm pretty burned out of the whole IT/Helpdesk thing but i paid off a $6600 student loan last january (originally was over $10k but i saved enough for a lump sum payoff) and i don't really want to end up back in debt

All the time, but most is self induced (my vette rebuild has cost almost $9K already and it's NOT done). So I live with it and do what I have to. The ONLY financial gripe I have is the housing market is going to make things VERY interesting for me in the next 2.5 years since I KNOW I'll be moving, and am currently upside down in my house thanks to a tanking market of people who don't know how to buy within their means.

I know that im happy as hell that GA has a HOPE scholarship. I kept a B average in highschool and get my schooling free minus books.

All i have to pay is car insurance, credit card, phone bill, and car payments each month.
Im dreading the day i have to start paying rent to live with my parents. :|

Been laid off for 2 months now. And within a reasonable drive, there are no available jobs in my main field of work. Which is a Project Engineer for commercial cabinet companies. Hell I cant even find anything in similar fields. All my mechanical experience is not from an actual job as an employee, so I've havent been able to get into that field either. I've been getting by on unemployment, and a little side work. Just broke my damn ankle last night so I cant work period for a while. Got a couple unemployed buddies that I may try to put to work to get my current projects done... I wouldnt make as much but I'll still make something.

$26,058.21 in debt. Two car payments, one consumer loan (to buy a trailer that I'll sell after I'm done with it) and a credit card. $830 a month for rent plus groceries/electric/water. A wife with no job and a child. I make decent money at the moment but Come February I won't have the military to get me by. I know everyone thinks I should stay in the Military because "it's a garunteed paycheck" but my sanity and family are more important to me. I don't mind working though, I'll pull doubles at McD's and Burger King if got to. I enjoy my lifestyle and will do whatever I have to do to keep it. The bright side is I have a plan that I think will work. I start terminal leave Dec 9th so that gives me Dec 15, Jan 1st/15 and Feb 1st/15 paychecks to drop on paying off the Camaro along with tax return so that'll be my "equity" if needed. Trailers back home are a little more spendy than they are down here so I'll get enough to at least break even with when I sell that. Cell phone will go away at it's term (march I think) and I'll get one that makes more since ($250 a month is rediculious and it's because of a blackberry from what verizon has told me, I don't think to highly of them at the moment, long story) And I'll have no rent for at least a few months thanks to my kick ass mom and pop. After the Camaro is paid off and i sell the trailer I'll be at like $14,000 or less and I should be able to maintain with that. I'll be living in TX with a friend for a few months (he owes me a lot, another LONG story) so I'll have free rent for a short period there and I have an alright job that'll pay decent. Sorry so long winded... or typed? Had to share and hopefully someone will either tell me my plan is great or it needs revised. Sorry, hope this wasn't a thread jack?

i have been hurting for about 3 months but that's just because the military is fuking up my pay. so ive had to make the last 2 months rent and initial deposit out of pocket(about 2800Euro/3800USD), i just got hammered with my first electric bill of 400euro, so ive only been making min payments on my credit cards, though it was my choice to buy my new car, but its almost a neseity. but once my pay get fixed i get a nice check of 3 months back pay. i know i dont have it as bad as most but it still sucks getting F**** by the man....

You guys sound like perfect candidates for getting a 2nd job. Go do it! Go work somewhere that you may actually have an interest in. My company (UPS) is hiring EVERYWHERE right now for hoppers. You WILL work everyday for 5-6 hours and if you want to keep working after the holiday season they almost always keep the good hoppers. If that's not your cup of tea, maybe a 2nd job in an electronics place such as Best Buy or whatever. I'm sure the pay isn't that great when you start, but if it puts $150-$200 in your pocket a week, that will pay some bills, plus i'm sure there is some empoyee discount that your can take advantage of down the road.

Sitting at home isn't going to help your situations at all.

Yep... you are right. I simply don't do it because I like my weekends... and if I work any more during school I will be totally strung out and grades will suffer. I REALLY should get a summer job, or simply a 2nd job and take a semester off from school to set things straight... I've just already been in school far too long.

i have thought about a second job, but that's where being in the military can screw you....i have been working 12-13 hour days some times 6 days a week....now it would be great if i got payed overtime but i don't and because of them hours i don't got time to get another job.

I'm kinda slow right now too. I do a ton of detail work (on the side and at New Era Performance), and I'm not getting that much business right now doing it on the side because winter is just about here and this is when things always slow down. I'm looking to find another job somewhere so I will be working 2 jobs to bring in some more money. Maybe at a dealership or something like cleaning up those cars. Who knows... I just went an picked up 4 applications on friday, and will probibly be filling them out tonight and sending them in tommrow.

It's hard on everybody my friend. So many layoffs and not too long ago I thought I was on the chopping block at my work. My first year at my current job (7 years ago.) i earned 48k and the following year I earned 51k but now the way things are I'll be lucky if I can break 42k.:( The major difference is now I make $4 more an hour. With my wifes pay and mine we can make it but sometimes you have to get out and have fun and that's where I get myself in trouble!:)
