Is there any danger possiblities added to the engine when adding the LT4km. I read that due to its lesser sensitivity it may not pick up slight detonation. Not sure if this is correct?

I believe its going to do you more good than any harm. I haven't really heard anything about it doing anything harmful to the engine, but I could be wrong. Hell, I was looking at getting a Borla kit for my car and was advised against it. Apparantly, its not as big of a deal on a F-body as a Y-body, but the pitch and location causes timing to be pulled. Didn't even want to risk it. Anyway, that being said, you never know for sure about stuff like that until someone has proof that its happened.

For the record, I was told (same respected tuner) that the LT4KMs were junk and a waste of money. I bought a cam, rockers and some other miscellaneous stuff and an LT4KM was thrown in. After the headers, exhaust, and rockers, I put it in just to see. To my surprise, it made the car much much smoother and actually seemed to help. Now, from personal experience I can stand behind the LT4KM and say that they do make a noticeable difference. Not sure if there would be any difference between tuning to de-synthesize the stocker and the LT4KM, I would think that could be what my tuner was referring to.

Anyway, based on personal experience, I say go for it. It'll help.

I was also told that the LT4 KM would/ could damage my engine due to the lesser sensitivity. I've never heard of anyone suffering engine damage because they put one in. I'd say do it, myself and many others have em with no problems. Another way to think of it, cars have run for years without electronics and knock sensors to tell you there's a problem, watch your gauges and if it starts knocking stop driving it!

Yeah, exactly I just wanst sure if it was a good mod, but hell, for the money, even if the car just runs better with no power added, its still a good mod IMO. Especially because my car is pretty loud with no cats and lt's, ory, and magnaflow so Im willing to bet that module might have been messing with my timing a bit.

Ebay or in the classifieds on one of the forums will probably get you the cheapest one.

Someone said the dealership wanted $80 for one, but you can find them pretty easy from $20-$40 on forums, Ebay, etc.

I put one in my car after i installed headers. It helped with a high RPM miss. I guess it was sooo much louder it was pulling timing.

I got mine from SUMMIT.
