So recently did plugs and wires on my car and I know for a fact everything is okay cause just pulled plugs today. So here is the kicker when I'm driving the car it sounds like its breaking up like it is missing and then it runs on all eight again. And when I'm in my drive way and let it idle I hear radom pops in the exhaust. And the last kicker is no check engine light drove the car all days today and no light. So what do u guys think I mean its seams very odd

My bet is egr or o2. Seeing as its not throwing a code have you checked the bulb. Not questioning your intelligence just its easy to overlook. I would lean more to a o2 acting up just not enough to throw a code. My z had that problem when I got it and so did the gt I had before the z.

Going to have to data log it to see what the o2 sensors are doing or start throwing parts at it. There is a test that you can do to check the egr valve but it involves a vacuum pump but it just checks the diaphragm and not the necessarily the valve position. If it is gunked up and not seating all the way it can cause some of the issues you have.

Well I'm thinking of getting lts and deleting the air/ egr so I may just do 02s at the same time. I mean does that seam smart

It would probably be better to run the old o2's for a few miles until any coatings burnt off before installing new ones. I would probably spend some money on a cable first to help narrow down what the original problem is. Otherwise you're going to throw a lot of money into parts that may not need replaced or worse yet, not fix it.

Best $85 you'll ever spend. This cable along with the right software and a laptop will allow you to retrieve ses codes, troubleshoot sensors, and record live streaming data. You can also use the cable to flash new tunes and tweaks to your pcm.

So tryed to take some video of the exhaust so u could hear it. It kinda sound like random pops. Like a bag of pop corn when it just starts to pop. It will go .....pop pop...pop...............pop pop pop...... But no check engine light so I'm going to drive the car to work tomorow and see if it throws a code on the way there. But has anyone had this happen before.

When my car was stock, with just a muffler... it started doing almost the exact same thing... with 120k on the odometer at the time.... it was the OPTI.
sorry man.

I don't want to hi jack the thread, Just curious about what you said popo.
I have the same popping noise as shadowbandit.
Do you think we are losing power if our opti is causing the popping?

That's what I was thinking may be do a cap and rotor and see if it last a little longer

FIRST ... eliminate the O2's ... simple test just unplug them see if the popping stops. if it does replace BOTH of them at the same time with A/C delco parts.
my did the same thing ... once i got a cable i noticed one O2 sensor was stuck at max reading and not moving. unplugged them and the popping stopped and i rode around like that for a few days and it never came back so i then changed them to the A/C delco ones and the issue has never came back.

If your opti is malfunctioning the car wont run right, its misfiring.... and if its missfiring its not making "power."
