I am trying to get an idea if my 60' are good or need improvement. (pretty new to the game). I believe my times are ok, but can I get better or am I missing something. I Bought my Car with motor built And have done the rest from S60 to Finishline trans. I just replaced front K-member and A-arms, shocks. Best 60' Time at the track on a hot muggy evening was 1.63 and the rest around 1.85. Thanks for any help and comments.

1.42 was my best. Ran that last year on a 10.58 pass. I know Mike V has been a bunch of 1.3's so has Daren with "Gump". A 1.63 sixty foot is kinda meaningless by itself unless we know what your 1/4 ET is.

My car sixties between 1.42 and 1.45 all the time at 3,550 race-weight last years shootout was the only trouble Iv'e had hooking up. I hope to be in the 1.3's with a few changes Iv'e made.

Sorry Joelster. 1.63 was 11.98 at 113 mph. I do run a drag radial, nitto 245/50 r16 and get some traction issue off the line. Are you guys running slicks? I am looking at getting new tires here shortly as the nitto's are about worn out.
Here is a quick run down of what I have: Motor is stock bottom,

Pacesetter coated long tubes with Y( no cats ) , Magnaflow catback and DMH electric cutout

ported stock heads w/ Ls1 8 mm valves, milled .025, Patriot Dual springs, ARP head bolts

ported stock intake

BBK TB 54mm

LE Hydrualic roller camshaft 236/242 .592/.592 109 LSA

Comp Cams 1.6 rockers, GM guide plates and ARP rocker studs

Lucas 42# injectors

ASP crank pulley / dampner

160 T-stat

Yank PT4000 stall

S60 with 4.10
panhard bar/lower control arms/relocation of torque arm/SFC/Pa A-arms and K-member
Finishline trans level 4/strange front shocks with 300# spr./Fiberglass SS hood

Last year I was consistently in the mid 1.5's, after some changes his year the last 2 track days I can't get out of the 1'6's. I haven't made any shock setting changes yet, just got some advice from Madman so I should be back in business next race! I'm an M6 car on ET Street bias plys (28/10.0).

I used to run Mickey Thompson radials and the car would sixty 1.46 almost every pass then I switched to Hoosier radials and ran my best sixties to date 1.42. FWIW the Hoosiers are the lightest radial out there so far made similar to a slick with a soft sidewall.

What size would you recommend. I was looking M/T 255/50 R16 as I have read it is a good tire size for our cars. What do you think? I see you are from the Chicago area. My motor was speed inc built. They also did rear axle and suspension goodies. I am up in Crystal lake area.

I'm from Bartlett not from you at all, but yea that's a decent size if your staying with a 16. I would buy a good drag radial though not a street radial like nitto. I would go with Hoosier or the new Mickey Thompson drag pro radial I'm hearing some good things about that tire and I'm going to try it myself. I currently run a 275/60/15 size tire on my car now.

the size you are running is the only size they have 275/ 60 15 for those new tires. that is strange. i would need new rims then to switch to 15's. will that affect the car any if i do that?

i may give the Hoosiers a try.

Oh yea I forgot it is a class specific radial designed toward the radial class. I would stay with a 26in tire for now unless you plan on spraying the car or making some more power a 28in might slow you down a touch.

Hoosiers will definitely help your cause.

Don't run a bias ply with an auto if you don't have to. My TA ran 11.94@112.26 untuned with a 1.603 60'. But during the 2009 shootout it 60'd a best of 1.567 on 275/50/15 mt et street radials.

I recently went a 1.59 on some 6 year old hoosiers with a cam only 355. Hope to be in the mid 1.4's after September with some more power.

I bought the hoosiers and I really like them. I will test them up at GLD on the 24th for the RSD.

Guys, I have a question for all u gooroos.

My 60 foot is consistent low 1.6s packing driver side tire. It doesn't feel like its spinning. I have idiots for a pit crew that don't pay much attention if it is spinning or not.

Question is, if the car is dead hooking, is that all it has?????? How else could it be improved. I have torque arm, lca's and slick....

Is the car manual or auto if your an auto what size stall you running ? what are your mods done to the car ? power will obviously have an impact on 60ft.

Well based off from what you posted power or gear is not a real issue. I don't see why you couldn't get it down in the low 1.4's. I would start by removing the front sway bar if you haven't already then look in to some adjustable shocks front first if on a budget and get the converter restalled 4,000 - 4,200 .

1.6s was last outing last year. Since then added Tubular front end, went to a larger cam more compression, manual rack and pinion, ABS delete, wiper delete, shaved some metal off the front end also, used strange SA front shocks, and a lid conversion with light fiberglass hood. I'm about to finish stripping the interior to race mode and hit the track in a few weeks. Hopefully the 10 bolt holds up. Front sway bar is already gone btw... And I def thought about restalling the converter. The car is only a weekend car, 100 miles or so.

The strange sa shocks should work fine and that weight off the nose also good. Keep us posted I'm willing to bet you will have a N/B 60 your next trip out.

Have one of you friends take video with a digital camera. Have them stand at the back corner of the car so we can see the back and down the side at the same time. That's better than even the best crew guy watching when it comes to seeing what your suspension's doing.

Shoe polish line on the tire will make it easy to tell if it is spinning.

I sure hope so. I'd love to get me a 10 sec pass N/A! Before I try out the juice and get a few more necessities like a roll cage perhaps and definately a 9inch...

When I do go to the track, this time I'm gonna have everyone with me video taping it. And the shoe polish mark sounds like a good idea.

Thanks guys and I apologize to the OP for thread jacking!!!

Ok...Ran last night on my new Hoosiers. I was consistent as hell, but did not get the bests 60 ft times. 1.68 was best time I could get. It seems going from the 245 50/16 to 255 50/16 made some changes. I could not break the 11's either, 12.13 was low and 12.19 was highest and my MPH was lower at 111 to 112 were I use to be at 114.
