View Full Version : So basically I hate drunk/drugged up drivers...

So yesterday I went to go pick up my cobalt from the shop... just got it fixed (the flex pipe was cracked) and I was driving it home while my mom was following behind me in our pick up truck... It was some country roads I was driving on and I popped up over a hill and there is a street that crosses the street that I was traveling on and these guys were suppose to stop... but guess what? THEY DIDN'T!!! so here's how it went from there:
I slammed the brakes
smacked into their passenger rear side
pulled the car to the side of the road
pulled the e-brake
and then I started getting a pain in my neck so I just sat still (the pain was from the seatbelt tensing up and smacking my neck)
then my mom pulled up (she had no idea about what happened)
then luckily a nurse was on the scene, she came over to me, opened my door, and talked to me and kept me from passing out or moving my neck
then I heard the police coming
then I heard the ambulance coming
then I heard the fire truck coming
so now I was at the hospital... they found some bruises from the seat belt on my arm
then they took me to the x-ray room and found out I have a sprain neck... I wasn't worried though because my neck wasn't too terribly in pain... I was just really scared about what happened
then my mom comes to my room and told me:
"The guys you hit fled the scene cause they knew they screwed up, one had some warrants, they also had some needles in their car, one was drugged up, and the other was drunk. The guys did end up coming back around and they couldn't get their story straight so the cops arrested them both"
I immediately felt hatred... I couldn't believe it... I could have lost my life because someone else wanted to have a good time and get drunk and drugged up :censored:
But I am thankful that I'm living and I'm thankful it wasn't a whole lot worse
I'll be dropping off my witness statement today at the PD and then I might have my mom take me to go see the cobalt and get some pictures of it =(

That sucks, at least your ok. It's to bad that type of thing happens way to often. Peolple want to go out and "have fun" with no reguad for the saftey of themselves or others. Then when reality hits em, they run away instead of admitting they were wrong and accepting responsability for their stupidity. I guess if they were honest they wouldn't be doing wrong in the first place! Hopefully the Police can get a decent case and they will have to do more than just find a lawyer and show up to court to get 2 years of unsupervised probation and take a safe driver and alcohol class! Hopefully the laws where you live are better than here, here it's all about money, if you can pay the fines you can get out of pretty much anything with probation, which isn't enforced. Sorry if I sound bitter, I just hate our court system, anyway I glad your ok is your Cobalt gonna live?
P.S. at least it wasn't your TA!

Awww Tawny, that sucks! At least you're alive and kicking though. Make sure those guys get put away for this though, they shouldn't be on the streets endangering peoples lives. Take everything from them, leave them with nothing but a want to be put away.

x2I get pulled over for a loud exhaust and the asshole wanted to arrest me for "disturbing the peace" and these assholes will get off on "oh, I'm sorry, it was a mistake and I wont do it again." I wont give my personal opinion on these subjects but I believe their punishment should be severe. And I say this haveing a relative that killed a mother while he was drunk driving. He got 10 years, hated seeing him there but I think more could've been done. I'm a bitter asshole on things like this. Kind of reminds me of the girl that hit my wife a year or so ago. crossed three lanes, jumped an easy 5ft wide 8inch tall median and plowed over a small tree before crossing another lane and hitting a Kia and forming it around the rear corner of my wife's t-bird. Told the judge she KNEW the brakes were bad and got away with everything. If you KNEW the brakes were bad, why were you driving? Some crap amazes the hell out of me!

That really sucks... Fortunately your still around. Unfortunately, the likelyhood of them learning anything from this is non-existant. I know in FL the only way you'd be able to make their lives miserable would be to claim permanent injury/ pain and suffering, etc. Then sue them to the point were they would have to pay you $800 a month for the next 5 years or go to jail.
Someone else summed it up the best, "Cars can be replaced, people cannot." But IMHO, dirtbags ARE replaceable.

There's plenty of them to go around.
To the OP:
Glad to hear that you're ok. Hopefully everything will work out for the best.

Sorry to hear Tawny. Glad your okay. Keep an eye out there, lot of people can't drive, even when sober.
Hopefully you guys will get a nice settlement out of them and get the cobalt all fixed up (or buy a comparable one)
Hang in there girl.

Wow.. I am sorry to hear that.. At least they cought those bastards and sent their ass to jail! I know how you feel in regards to the whole neck thing as well. When I got in an accident in my Formula about 2 months ago, pretty much the exact same thing happened to me. I had a very bad concussion and too, but i wasnt allowed to get out of my car, and was taken to the hospital and had to wear this damn neck brace around for 2 weeks. Did they give you a neck brace to wear around or not?
I wish you the best and hope for a speedy recovery!

I am glad you are ok and it wasn't worse. Hopefully these guys stay in jail and get some time now for what they have done. Try and get some rest if you can and hopefully you can get everything strightened out pretty quick.

thanks everyone for the kind words... I don't have to wear a neck brace or anything, just have to take some meds. and do some exercises with my neck but its all good... I know the guys aren't gonna learn from this but I'm just happy it wasn't a whole lot worse... in conclusion: $6,155.59 worth of damage... my dad started getting choked up when he saw it because he was out of town when it happened and I couldn't get out of the car to see the wreckage, so me and my dad both got to see it together for the first time...

I know i got a lot to be very Thankful for after seeing where it happened at. And the Car.Thank you for being so willing to learn to drive at such a young age. Spent many days and nites takeing her out to a industrial park. To teach her how to drive. Everything from going in and out of Cones and backing back through them.High speed braking on wet pavement and dry. This truly could been a different story.Tawny Your one of a kind Girl. Dont ever forget that and your truly blessed.
