Tonight while at work (Autozone) I decided to look up some parts for the LT1 we have a bunch if Holley, Lunati, and Melling books. While flipping through them I found a High volume Melling Oil pump. It claims 25% more flow then the stock one and has a 3/4" inlet. Im curious as to what oil pumps you guys are running. For turbo applications? I can get it for a good price but im curious as to what you guys have to say.
The P/N is M155HV

waste of money. the std volume pump delivers more than enough. we run a std volume speed pro pump with a higher psi spring.

The reason I ask is because I can get for 38.99 and then I get my discount on top of that. But I ask because this is only the second turbo engine I've built.

If going turbo its always been my thought to run a HV pump. Provides added volume to ensure proper lube flow over the entire system. Many people get away with doing a standard volume pump with a high pressure spring just as BIG CAT stated. I have always read that bearing clearances are what decide High Volume or High Pressure. If you need neither then go standard pressure and volume. No need to waste power pumping oil if the engine doent need it. (I ended up using a Melling 155HV on my recent build at the recommendation of my machine shop.)
EDIT: I should also add it's recommended that you upgrade your oil pan if you go with a HV pump. There have been reports of a few LT1's sucking the stock pan dry under heavy acceleration and high RPM.

That was my thought. The added oil requirements of a turbo system would benefit from a high volume pump. I am planning on running a larger pan if I go HV or not.

Im N/A and run the melling high volume pump.... idling at a stop light with 50psi of oil pressure is a good feeling :)
