1/8th mile drag racing in our 5.3's TOW RIG BATTLE!!!!

We went to our local 1/8th mile strip (which is typically a tenth slow) for a little 5.3 shootout! There were 4 of us altogether. Myself, Choda, Billy aka mindless, and Joe aka foureyed. These trucks are our TOW RIGS for our race/street cars so we weren't too serious. I'll give you a brief rundown of how each truck is setup:


joelster, 2008 Silverado ext cab, 2WD, 5.3 flex fuel
Choda, 2009 Silverado ext cab, Z71 4WD, 5.3 flex fuel, Volant CAI, New Era tune, exhaust
Billy, 2010 Silverado ext cab, Z71 4WD, 5.3, AirRaid CAI, Magnaflow Cat-back
Joe, 2009 GMC Sierra ext cab, 4WD, 5.3, blackbear tune, muffler, 285 tires

FWIW my friend Brian showed up with his dad's brand new EcoBoost F150. It's extended cab Fx4 4x4 all the options, etc. That thing rips! He has a K+N drop in air filter and that's it. He ran a 9.49 at 74.9mph. That's a mid 14 in the 1/4, or about as fast as a stock LT1 f-bod with an auto and 2.73's. Not too shabby for a 5000lb truck.

Nice our local index series switched to an 1/8th mile track since KCIR closed. It's fast compaired to 1/4 mile! I tow with my 2000, 1500 Z71 Sierra ex cab. It's got a rebuilt 4L60E (built for towing) a big ass tranny cooler, homemade CAI with modified airbox, K&N, Flomaster, and a Blackbear street tune. I have the pcm setup for electric fans and I have the fans I just haven't bought the harness and relays yet. It'd be cool if the local series had a tow rig race at the end of the season! I've got over 200K on my odometer so I'm kinda intimidated to put it on the track!

My tow rig is a 97 silverado 4x4 with a 305 lol it runs 11.20s. But that eco boost truck is very impressive
