so this guy who lives down the street is a real nice guy. His in to cars and has a AWD talon that is way fast. but he is wanting me to run his 99 3.8 V6 mustang.

Well he has a CAI, shortie headers, a chery bomb glass pack ... and a 100 shot of nitrous.

I got called out by a compleat douchbag who has an 09 mustang gt, he was also running a 100 shot, cai, headers, had alot into his rear suspention and was running radials.. i smoked him by over a full second in the 1/4th running street tires and im a cam only car with all the uprades you have except im an m6 and have a stock tb and an over the rad style intake...i think youve got em...stangs are slow :)

Dude no worries I know a guy with a v6 sn95 mustang with 100 shot and it barely ran a low 10 high 9 in the 1/8th. My exhaust only ws6 with a slipping clutch ran a 8.8 there. I also smoked a 2010 roush at that track.

before the stall and x pipe i did 287hp to the rear tires and 313tq ... i have a 100 shot myself but it is not even close if i were to do that. he called me out my motor to his spray.

so we will see. i just dont want to get beat by a v6 stang

Ah, but you're forgetting about the torque and were it comes in. Plus, that 190hp is at the crank, not at the tires. Figure in drive line losses, and stock you're probably looking at roughly 160 hp at the wheels before anything else. Add in his mods, cai, shorties and glass pack, and he's maybe looking at 210-230 at the crank (and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt) puts him at 194 or there abouts at the wheels. Add in his nitrous, which would bring him up to 310-330 at the crank using the above assumed numbers, and now on the high side you're looking about 280 at the wheels with everthing factored in.

I don't think you'll have a problem with the guy. As his car sits, he's looking at a max of 280/305 at the wheels, and that's assuming his car isn't wore out and isn't some kind of superfreak. You did better than those numbers before your last round of mods. He might have you in the weight department, but his torque peak is going to be higher and he's not going to have the full hp of his car right off the line unless he hits the nitrous from the get go.

In short, I believe that you will smoke him lol.

Which is better than what he could optimistically hope for on a very lightly modded v6 mustang with a 100 shot. Plus your torque is going to come in harder and faster than his will on the v6.

I will be looking for the vid. I don't have any doubt personally but ya never know. I learned mustangs were slow when my friends 2000 3.8 camaro smoked my other friends 95 gt 5.0. Plus if its from a dig if you don't spin your gonna kill him out of the hole. If he sprays straight out he will light the tires up as all the v6 stangs I've seen are one legged.

Im guna say you've got him . There a speed shop here in town that has a 05 v6 mustang with a vortec blower and nitrous and it runs tens pretty impressive car really.

well yesterday I went to "Small Town Weekend" and did some LEGAL street racing. well my friend brought his talon and on the first pass he blew his head gasket. He dont have a boost controler. so if/when he goes WOT the car shoots to 28psi and lifts the head. (he has APR head bolts to fix this but that is a long story) well on our first pass we race and he gets nervous and sees me right beside him after a good AWD Launch by him. he then floors it and at some point in the race the head gasket blows. non the less, once that is fixed and he has a boost controller. I should have my colder plugs and tune for 100 shot of nitrous. i think i can take him.

I only got to watch the stang video but that didn't take long lol. It shouldn't be a different outcome with the bottle. Now if I can get the other video to load. Btw if things go right I may be getting a video up of my stock z vs a 02 gt soon.

EDIT - saw the talon. What did y'all launch at? Sounded like a dead spot for the lt1 on the round 1 video. Btw love the wheels I've never seen your car with anything but stockers. And now I saw the other two. The dig race was alot better. With the bottle you should have no problem taking him. Its funny how off a roll autos are disadvantaged but from a dig they are a whole other animal. That's what I've learned with my z. My birds pulled alot harder off a 40-50 roll.

both kinda, he wanted to race me with the stang but the bottle was only at like 3-4 lbs. got the pressure up to 900 then after that run he was at 600.

so we went back to his place ... and i said i wonder how i would do against the talon. i knew i would lose but i wondered by how much? so we went and ran the talon. and it was closer than i thought it would be.


a few days later we went to some LEGAL street races put on by the El Reno car club, and he tried to get the mustang out there but the main feed line got jacked up so he had to bring the talon. no boost controller = too much boost = lifted head and a blown head gasket.

Good races, I just moved to Woodward, OK just in time for the tornado to come through. Havent seen any Lt1s in the area but there are tons of 5th gen camaros. I would like to get down to OKC to check out the scene there but it will have to be in the ecoboost f-150. The Z is non operational thanks to a bad expirience with a performance shop back home.
