So I am about to pull my vette out of the storage shed and start working on it and hope fully finish it before next summer. we will be installing a Lt1 engine into it so I thought every one would be interested in the process plus add some input.
The lt1 will be mated to a muncie 4speed so what clutch and fly wheel should I use? I also plan on using an inline fuel pump with it. I was wondering if anyone for sees a problem with that?

And please do document the build. I have a guy wanting to trade me a 76 vette for my bobcat. I could see doing this swap if things work out.

I will include as much as I can.
The first thing we are trying to do is track down an engine. Unfortunately some of the work will be subed out as I have limited time and resources so the underside of the body and actually remounting the body to the frame will be done by a local corvette specialist most likely. Everything else will be done by me.
So first up we will be trying to find and purchase a motor in the next 2-3 weeks. when I get back from vacation on the 25th of June we will actually be trying to get the car out of storage and started.

So I picked up a motor today. Its a little ruff but after some cleaning, painting, and modding it should be good to go. this wont be anything crazy just a run of the mill lt1 with a small cam probably the same setup in my 94.
The motor came from a 94 camaro out of a local junkyard.

Sounds like a sweet build. My girls dad used to have a 68 with a 500hp 327 with a Muncie out back. I've always liked those body styles.
Post some pics of the car!!!

Ill get some I have to dig the car out of the storage shed which I plan to do when I get back from vacation. I have a lot going on so it will be a slow project. I am just finishing up painting my J/24 sailboat and have been working 72 hours a week so Im not as far along as I would like to be because of the other stuff.

So we got it down to the short block today and the engine doesn't look all to healthy. The cooling passages are blocked up really bad. So I plan to tear down the engine the rest of the way and rebuild it.

yah I really didnt want to rebuild the whole thing which does suck. On the flip side though the car will have a brand new engine. We got a quote for around 1600 bucks for them to do the short block and heads they said it would take 2 weeks but I told them to stretch it out to about a month if they want as I will be busy with work.
I finished cleaning the intake and priming it today tomorrow I will paint it.

I painted the intake. I could have powder coated It don't really know why I didn't I just wanted to hand paint it all.If it looks bad when its all done Ill strip it and powder coat it.

Oooo shiny. What did you use to clean and strip the intake? I'm going to do mine soon and was thinking a mixture of degreaser, and maybe hot tank would be good. I have a bench top sand blaster I was going to use but I don't want to gum up the little Vacuum ports with sand.
Also is the bla k you out down the primer or is it POR15?

I used a heavy degrease then marine clean. I cleaned it with brushes and a toothbrush. After that I cleaned up the intake with steel wool. I didnt want to media blast it because i was afraid of damaging the mating surfaces.
You are supposed to use the por15 as a primer and then Paint the enamel over top of it which a por15 product as well. It looks to have come out good but its a little hard to work with the aluminum paint. It needs to go on thin and I think would have applied better with a gun. But it is a vast improvement over what it looked like.

So not much has been going on because the motor is at the machine shop. parts are out for powder coat and we have finish dragging the poor car out of the storage shed. I have been bouncing back and forth between the car and repainting my j24 sailboat. we did bottom paint but have decided to paint the whole boat. but here are some pictures of the car.
they are ugly now but we are hoping to have the car ready for a car show in September of 2013.

While working on getting the car out of the storage shed the other day we found a photo album. It had a photo of the car that we dated to around 81-82 which I though was pretty cool. My father doesn't know of any other photos of the car.

Well most of my projects have been on hold because of personal problems. This one however is back on track just im not the one doing most of the work any more.
However I need some help. I bout a flywheel for a 87 corvette which is a 153 tooth flywheel. the vette had a 168 how do I go about picking out a clutch, persure plate and throwout bearing now?
