This is for everyone. I've noticed a very sharp drop off in usage of this forum. It used to be VERY active, but it's really nose dived since I've been gone/returned. It saddens me because I don't see a survival if it doesn't get turned around. I'm just wanting to spark some life back into this place.

What is everyones unbiased opinion? Give the good, give the bad, open it up. What can we improve on? I want this place to come alive again.

I hate to say it, but I think that there has been alot of turn over in the last year or so. There were quite a few cars popping up in the for sale section.

Then there are guys like me who, while our projects are still going strong, have also gotten into other stuff. The last few months I've been spending most of my time online researching diesels because I bought a diesel truck recently and I find them fascinating how radically different they run than a gas motor.

Plus my project has been in limbo the last few months due to cash flow and my builder having problems with the company that supplied his plasma cutter (which has been resolved, so the 8.8 build is back on track).

I believe that there are a few hardcore LTx platformers, and a constantly rotating roster of amatuers that haven't "gelled" for lack of a better term with a car or engine platform. While I love my TA, I wouldn't say I've completely gelled, as there are about 20 cars and trucks on the project list that I want to build. But I plan on keeping my LTx for years to come just because it's the first car I really clicked with. I still lurk around, but my attention is elsewhere for the time being getting the turbopig up to snuff as far as reliability and a cool project with a mechanically actuated variable vane turbo (it's a turbo upgrade and an exhaust brake all in one for much less than the two upgrades seperately)

I love this forum.... And i post more often than i take breaths in a day.....

Im disapointed with some of the maint issues to the site and thr mobile site. IE: I made a post about tge mobile app having an error issue..... and at least another member posted that they have the same issue and yet no one has aknowledged the post.....

Ive always been here to help out on and off the board when i can..... Many times with no thanks.... Ive even made efforts to purchase the site to give it the attention it needs, including hire people if necessary..... But we just could not agree on a value.....

I agree with alot of what has been said i love my ltx car but i got other Irons in the fire that take up alot of the time and add in the Gf and the house work and rework and remodel time is a precious commodity to be on a forum that isnt for a car that is my daily driver... which is giving me fits to begin with. Just give it time it will fire back up when snow starts blowing again.

A lot of the original members seem to be switching platforms. New members seem to join and then disappear.

I still come a lot. The sales section still seems to be doing good. I sold everything I posted in a matter of weeks. Right now since I've gotten into a serious relationship, gotten more into guns, and am trying to buy a house, the car is playing DD duties with no more mods for a while.
It also seems the lt1 section of other forums is falling off to...

But I'm still going to attend the shootout. About 80% sure I will not be racing.

I'm glad that the core folks we have are seeing the same thing. I realize that turnover is a normal cycle, but what has be worried about our longevity is that the new guys coming into our world aren't staying, or rather, staying here. I'm thankful for each and every member this site has, I'm just very worried about this place being able to maintain itself. Without the higher user count, we're not goign to be able to get new sponsors on board. Sponsors = cash flow to maintain the site, have events, etc. Donations only go so far and I wouldn't ask that much out of the users of the site.

It just feels like the early days were the good old days. 25+ threads updated daily. New users constantly registering. Lots of excitement. I just want to see that come back somehow. I want this site to remain successful, and want to make sure that our members are happy with the site.

I think it is several issues. first and for most the site has crashed a few times especially the big one a few months ago where ltxtech got a lot of flak on other forums. Second I thing the forum is to large for the amount of people. You need to eliminate a lot of the sections or combine them. some people by pass alot of areas because they have no reason to go in them and that leaves questions Unanswered. When I come on the forum I hit 3 sections Lt1 and lt4, lounge and general sales usually. If you increase traffic to the tech area by eliminating or consolidating then I am sure you will boosted overall traffic in the long run.

Just for example, could ask a question about roller rockers for you camaro in Lt1 and lt4, camaro and firebird, general automotive tech, and general tech.

I was thinking about this some more as I was going to get parts for my car. Another big problem is that there is a ton of camaro forums. you have camaroz28.com, ls1tech, ls1lt1.com, camaroforum and so on. The thing about it is that most forums have the same members visiting all those sites and just jumping from one to the next. The problem is most venders will feel that they have everything covered because they advertise on all those forums. this forum needs to do something that makes it unique from the rest something that makes it stand out.

I have been brain storming so ideas and im going to continue to for today and tomorrow and ill send you a pm for some ideas I have. I love this forum and really want to see it succeed so I don't mind putting a little time and effort in.

I have an idea but want to run it by a couple of specific guys first, something I think might help out.

Finnv3, sometimes there's questions that can't be answered. Some guys like myself aren't going to chime in on something they don't have a clue about (auto transmissions for example).

And point taken about the multitude of forums. I had a problem with that from the beginning and have never liked it, but couldn't talk the two programming guys out of it at the time. I'll keep pushing at that because I completely agree, the overabundance of forums makes it difficult to navigate and spreads things too thin.

I also believe it is multiple things. I think the economy has pushed enough people out of spending money on sports cars, and more into just trying to put bread on the table and pay rent. Then you have the d-bags on here who sell their LTX's for LSX trash (I still laugh that they post it here looking for support). You have the fact that the LSX world is still growing, while the LTX croud is getting older, and there are fewer of us interested in them.

My own personal issue with the board is the fact it seems to crash almost on a regular basis, and it seems to almost be "accepted" rather than fixed once and for all. I mean no disrespect, but it seems that this could all be avoided if the appropriate time and maintenance was put into this forum as we all would like to see it. New members are going to be less likely interested in something like this that goes down that frequent.

I believe we can do a few things.

#1, GET OUR NAME OUT THERE!! I just don't think enough people know about us to get interested. Once more people are on, more people will want to join. Its cool for us die hards to know each other the way we do in a close knit community, however that can be intimidating for outsiders wanting to join and not already being part of our little community. We need to find ways to welcome newcomers and let poeple know where the website is. We need to be offering something that you can't find on other websites.

#2, we need to make things more interesting around here, so that once poeple come, they stay. How? I think having more LTX sponsered events and outings. More contests, perhaps try to go out and pursue more sponsers rather than hoping they will stumble upon us. Something that will keep people interested in coming. One of the big things I love about this website is that the people are always offering help, unlike the a-hole types on LS1tech (don't get me started). But one thing that keeps me going back to LS1tech from time to time is just the sheer number of members, and with it the more people who have more car knowledge. We have some very smart individuals over here, but there just aren't as many of them, and just not as much combined experience.

As Austin Powers would put it, this site seems to have lost its "Mojo". This website is a part of my life, and I would be very sad to see it go. But I am in the same belief as Fastbird when I say that if somethings don't change, I believe its days are numbered.

The vibe over here is 100x better. Sometimes it's busy as hell over here too. I try to do my part about spreading the word about the shootout, but it gets frustrating. I have a few friends with nasty LTx powered rides and they lurk, but will not ever post. They'll surf online all the time, but won't take the time to make a thread or anything, lol. The site does have its hiccups as far as crashing and whatnot. I try to answer every question that I see where I have personal experience and not just copy/paste information to share.

I will also echo alot of the sentiments about the number of sites that deal with this platform and fbodies in general. There is also the fact that the cars have gotten the rap of being mullet rides and that is yet another nail in the coffin. But on a side note these cars are getting cheap enough that there is a lot of miseducated owners that dont have a clue of what they have. I have a great example there is a guy here in town that has an older impala that has the lt1 in it and he has a huge corvette symbol on it so I asked him about it and he said well it is the same motor that came in the car but he claimed it was a corvette motor. when I asked if he swapped it since the b bodies have iron heads he just looked at me funny and said it was a corvette motor. It was then I decided it was a waste of time trying to convince him otherwise and this seems to be the common thread for most of the average ltx owners I have met. There is however a small group of us here in town that have modded fbodies and know what they are talking about. So in general if you want sheer numbers it is going to reduce the knowledge base and revert us back to a ls1tech type atmosphere and me personally would rather be on a small forum with more educated owners and members then have to wade through the crap to find the nuggets of knowledge I would be looking for. This is just my take on it but I think that is the way alot of you guys see it too.

Like others have said the frequent crashes and rumors of this site being bankrupt don't help. I still prefer this site over any other.

Has anyone approached companies that make products our members commonly use (AI, LE, MWC, Burkhart, Madman, UMI, BMR, M/T, Racetronix, Aeromotive, etc) about sponsorships? I've noticed when sponsors post info helping their customers it benefits them and us with useful info. Also, it will pop up with google searches thus making more traffic and more potential users here.

I completely agree with this. My theory is less forums = more eyes ran across threads = quicker replies = happy campers. I think this is especially important in reguards to new members. The first few threads someone posts can really form their opinion of the site. No one wants a new member having to wait 3 days for a response when they have a problem. I feel the amount of forums increases potential to create a similiar situation. Everyone is here to help, but in my case, I only check a few of the many forums on here. I'll try and make it a point to post more in tech and check the other forums to see if I can help in that reguard.

This site is awesome. I would hate for it to go away. I have not been on a site with a better group of people.

It's much easier to get a crowd of people to try something new than keep them coming back every day.

Can't say what would've caused a drop off as I haven't been on. Various people leave for various reasons... too busy, lost interest in their LTx hobby, etc. Have you analyzed the stats? There needs to be a certain amount of new members to make up for that type of drop off. I'd say that the economy isn't helping, but that isn't the case for my absence.

I love this site as well. Hell, I donated like $200 last year. I might as well get an LTXTech tattoo.
Granted, I've been popping in on and off over the last few weeks, and doing some general lurking. But, I've also been working 50-60 hours a week at my "primary" job, plus my few hours on Sundays slinging parts. I think being busy is a pretty decent factor for the lack of activity.
But, I agree with you Sean. There will be times where I'll get on several times a day for 3 or 4 days and find no responses to any of the threads I've subscribed to. The activity level seems to come and go at times.

Even though im still a new member I have noticed that there seems to be a lack of posting. It can be attributed to a few things. The sheer number of sections on the main forum page, lack of promotion, or even just the amount of people switching over to the LSx platform. I also agree with Popo, there too many bugs. And what is the point of having the Report a bug section if there isn't anyone that will make a difference?

Although I am a new member of maybe a week or so now. But already I feel that there is a very strong community here that needs to be maintained and looked after. I also see myself sticking around for a good long while and during that time I would very much like to see this site get turned around and become a good place for LTX enthusiasts to visit.

I agree with you guys about the activity. I get on here every chance I get and agree about this being the best site on the web with the best people not just because its ltx based. I usually spend most of my time in the lounge just getting to know the people and see what crazy stuff they come up with. I tell everyone I meet that has a ltx about this site but I have yet to see one on here. Maybe people around me just don't care about their cars like I and y'all do. If something happens to this site it will suck because I will have to make a Facebook and add people. Maybe when my hours pick I with donate some of my build money to help keep it up. I'm not on here as much as alot of ya but this thread seems like the apocalypse is coming and there isn't much we can do. As some of you know I have recently started posting on some of your threads and have created a couple myself. Over the past few weeks I have almost been addicted to this site. Most of the reason is I felt welcome here and have not been treated like an idiot when asking some amature questions. I used to browse LS1tech more often than here because of the masses but was often ignored or treated poorly for my lack of ltx knowledge. Not to mention I am sick of every question about my car being answered with " sounds like its time to go LS" not happining I am a dedicated LTx guy now and personally dont want to be in the LS a**hole club.

Money I dont have alot of but I have really come to love this forum and will do anything to help. I will support any forward movement of this site and plan to at the least print out some fliers to hand out locally at shows and car meets.

Thanks for keeping this site alive and hope it stays that way for years to come.

I am very impatient. By the way I love your car. being a fellow lt1 conversion car makes it that much better. I wish I put the time into doing it like you did. I plan to do a restoration on my car when I am done with the corvette and make it the way I want it and do it right this time.

Thank you sir! :embarassed: The car looks good on the exterior from 5 feet away - unfortunately it's already due for a complete restoration. The undercarriage took a lot of abuse while it was daily driven through Michigan winters and I have quite a few areas of undercarriage rust. Thankfully the rust is contained to the under carriage for the most part - although I have a few bubbles by the gas door.

My under side is starting to get a little rust to that's why I want to do it. I go under it every year and sand or wire brush the rust off of the bottom and throw some por15 on it. I want to change the whole set up go to a 12bolt, built 4l60e and a le2 package then do a full resto. Car has a lot of sentimental value to me Ill never sell it.
