I got up close and personal today with one of our customers personal collection of cars. A typical and very nice 2000 Vette vert, a 34 Plymouth that was all original sheet metal, the 55 blue truck that I posted on facebook a while back, but the last car just takes the cake.
A 39K mile, original, unrestored, FUEL INJECTED, 1963 Split Window Corvette, 327/4 speed combo. ALL ORIGINAL. Easily a 100K plus car. And it was amazing.
That's all.

39k is almost new and for a car that's almost 50 years old that's insane. It's almost disgusting that nobody drove it more than that.

as much as I like old cars and vettes, I agree with dkd1990 about the non driving. I figure a 100K car is worthless till someone writes the 100K check for it. I rather enjoy the car than let it sit and rot. My camaro is low milage casue the previous owner only put 39K on it in 9 years. He now has a 98 vette FRC that has 18K on it. It will make me a nice C5 someday.. LOL

My thought is why not take it out for ice cream with the old lady for a quick and simple date night or a cruise in the fall when the leaves start to change or like my step dad did, take me out to McDonald's on a friday night in his 33k mile 69 Z28. It's memories like that you always remember for the rest of your life. My step dad died back in 91 and those friday night rides were back around 83 but I can still remember there was absolutely no need to take it above 3500rpm. I was 12. Memories and old muscle, priceless.

I plan to put as many miles on my camaro and 69corvette as I can. I got into it with a guy at work about it today who went out and bought an 06 gto and never drives it because it may get dirty. If you want something to look at go by a piece of art.
I honestly believe there are two types of car people. those that really enjoy their cars and enjoy building them and the other type are those who just enjoy the attention they get from them. Not saying the owner of the collection is one or the other as I don't know them. Just stating something I have noticed.
