Hey guys, Long time since i needed to use this site!
Long storey. I have been having some problems with my 95 trans am lt1 of corse! Well i had to pull the motor out due to some bearing spun. so i have just rebuilt it all together with new crank, rods, pistons, cam and minor head job! well i started the car last night. it seemed to run ok. seems to have power loss and i had a miss fire from a plug wire. but i need new ones just waiting for them to get here! Well this morning i went out to move the car! and it started right up but didnt run for more then 2 seconds and died. I tryed to start it for about 1 min. even holding it a wot and mid. and nonthing. I got out of the car checked for spark, Nonthing. cheacked all fuses for power. got power to them all, even power to the coil leads and power comming to the pig tail for the ICM. i swapped the coil still no spark, swapped the icm had spark. put it all back together and tryed to start it got a spudder out of it. and nonthing. cheacked for spark again. and nonthing agian. it keeps shorting out the ICM. it eate 3 of the spares i had with cheaking grounds and all that good stuff. But i also noticed that my batt cables are getting really hot and i never noticed this before but its weird.
any good ideahs please let me know>
Thanks!

Very strange, I can't help with the ICM's getting burned out but I can tell you heat is a by product of resistance. So you may not be getting a good connection with the battery cables. The battery cables will begin to heat up with extended cranking just due to the prolonged load though. So as long as they're not getting hot after normal cranking time you probably ok there. You might take the ICM's to a parts store and have them tested a few times to make sure they're no good before tossing them in the trash, they're not cheap! Are you using a good heat sink compound (not dielectric compound) on the back of the ICM's?

I got the car running again. it ended up being the ground on drivers side head. as for the batt cables getting hot.. its still a problem, they dont get hot while cranking only when running!

Are both cables getting hot or just one of them?

I got the cable issure taken care of, It was the red batt box thing that the cable goes to and connects the wireing harness to has rusted up and wasnt getting good power too., As for the running issure, I got it running, still has some problems, I got it scaned today, got my laptop working, got 3 codes, 36,42,44. 36 is Hi res sensor fault, 42 is EST grounded or shorted. and 44 left o2 lean.
o2 is new, but its bosh could be badd. as for other codes idk were to start looking, i Dont think its a opti issure cuz no sooner the SES light comes on it clears right up and runns ok. not 100% but runs ok to drive. Im affraid to drive it any were. so if any ideahs were to start looking for my problems let me know.. thanks
