I know I can't be alone with this. Whenever I have an automotive or household project come up, I find myself drawing detailed diagrams in Visio. Some of you may use MS Paint or AutoCAD or something. With every drawing, it keeps getting more and more complex.

I just fired up Visio to build a quick guide for matching speaker wires and amp/sub wiring config, and it turned into a (currently) 4 page diagram with fully illustrated and defined, color-coded wires, etc.

Some would argue that I am just wasting my time and I'm fully aware of that. But, damnit, I make great documentation lol.

Anyone else finding themselves doing something similar?

Man, I love Visio! Used it a lot for work on making layouts for how equipment would fit in certain yards and areas. Showing traffic patterns and such in the yards too. Then my laptop fried and I haven't come across another copy t the right price (free) again.

Haha, nice! I'm also an Excel nerd. I had a spreadsheet made for all the shit I was going to buy for my new DD (98 Grand Prix GT) before I even found the one I bought. Making this stuff makes me learn about the cars and how they respond to different mods/supporting mods, etc. I've been doing that for years. I just noticed recently how much more professional and in depth my Visio diagrams are getting lol.

I am an IT guy (Network Analyst, actually) and use Visio quite a bit with designing/maintaining network topologies, firewall and email configurations, etc.
