Nice, no more Opti troubles. Can't go wrong with DIS.

Gonna be doing that to someone's car other than mine shortly. Considering doing a hybrid conversion to mine, but I'd need a FAST XIM instead of the ls1 pcm.
Sent from my factory refurb but way better than my first HTC Rezound

Question, is it easier for guys with 96-97 fbodies due to already having the timing cover?
How much did the setup cost you because right now I need to decide between this and the LTCC

Yes, because the timing cover already has the crank sensor in it. You have to run a single timing chain (not a double) and everything will fit.

I already have a heavy duty single chain. So what else would I need? To prevent a thread hi-jack you can PM me.

It honestly doesnt matter what year you are working with as the cover has to come off to put on the cam and crank reluctor. It does make it easier in the fact you dont have to track down a cover, crank sensor, and knock sensor.
You will need to buy the kit, harness or the diy kit, coils and harness's, pcm, brackets or build your own, and custom plug wires. If i didnt have to change timing chains i would have under a grand into it plus im now selling off my working opti, coil, icm, plug wires, and pcm to recoup some of that cost. By the time i sell off my parts it should cost me around $500. Id rather spend that money to upgrade then have to deal anymore ignition problems let alone having to replace them!

I am looking for the cheapest route to do this. Sounds like maybe the DIY kit? and buy and coils and stuff separate?

Yeah you can do it on the cheap if you can find good deals on coil packs, coil pack harness's, and pcm. The DIY harness is $100 IIRC (Bought mine used) and might cost you $20 is tape, loom, and connectors. Use the conversion chart that EFI supplies, shbox for the lt1 pcm pinouts for reference, and an ls1 pcm pinout chart to double check your work. There was a few wires that they didnt mark which is why its good to have both sides of the pcm to go back and make sure everything goes where its suppost to go. Lastly take your time and and dont get fustrated! Take notes and mark down what youve completed and come back to it when your ready to go back it. You do NOT want to screw up pins and loose your mind after its installed troubleshooting!

I been noticing that my car is starting to have ignition problems. I may go this route my self. great information so far.

One of the main reasons i did this is because there isnt much for ltx tunning in my area. Swapping to the LSx pcm and hp tuners opens alot of options now for tunning. Deleting the opti problems always was a big bonus :)

Im in the same boat with tuning i have to travel like 3.5+ at the very least to get a tune unless its a mail order.
