Any one own one of these trucks, I need a truck for work. This will put plans off for any sort of Vette for a while. But since this truck will be my work vehicle and daily driver, figure I would get some thing nice. Went today, picked out a 08 Sierra with the Z71 and 4x4 package, I'm hoping to buy with in the next month.

They are definately my favorite out of all the new trucks. I think they look the best, ride great, and have a great power plant.

I also noticed a 6.2L available on 2009 models.

GM makes the best 1/2 ton truck hands down. I would avoid Dodge for obvious purposes (uh, do you really need a HEMI?) and veer away from Ford because those OHC motors get some crappy fuel economy. Although Ford appears to be upping their game for 09. Rating the trucks at 19-22 hwy. Which is still less than the DOD 5.3L LS based motor :)

GM makes the best gasoline trucks on the market now. Diesel I'd have to give to Dodge. I say go for it! Z71s are awesome!

I really do like the looks of the new Ford trucks though. My neighbor has a 08 F250, and I think it looks awesome. I detailed it for him last friday night, and it really began to grow even more and more on me. He says its a pretty reliable truck, but it really sucks on the whole gas milage thing.

The new Chevys are great, I would not buy anything but them if I was shopping for a gas work truck. What will you be using it for?

The only reason I just picked up my 02 Powerstroke is :
A. Engine not made by Ford (Navistar = International Trucks)
B. Better/Solid front end for all out work (Plowing in my case)

Those of you that said Ford is upping the game... They are, because they got a huge loan recently to offset losses/build better stuff (Remember the whole no more money thing?).

I expect to see the playing field between Ford/Dodge/GM a little more level in the next few years. Although ALL of them are in some deep shit as of right now, Fords loans are good until about 2010-2012 IIRC.... And GM/Dodge are sinking fast (They should be doing the loan thing within the next year if the trend continues).

I want some thing comfortable and large when I have to drive back and fourth from Houston to Louisiana for work. I also really want to be able to tow my car to the track and events. I don't want a Tahoe or similar because I want a bed for throwing dirty car parts in. I don't need a diesel truck, gas one should be fine. The thing I dont like about smaller trucks are that they get the same fuel economy as the big ones, at least my Blazer does.

I hit 19.5mpg the blazer this weekend. The 30in tires really like cruising at 80 :D
But yeah... 4.3l blazers aren't real nice on gas... unless you have a 6spd ;)

But they still won't tow your car to the track.

my dad was gonna get a newer sierra but he ended up deciding to go with a 2004 sierra instead so we could save some money... if it wasn't for us finding our sierra with low miles we probably would have a 2008 sierra sitting in the front of our house... I haven't heard anything bad about these trucks and from what I saw when we went to go check one out they're really nice looking, spacious, and comfortable...

I would also reccomend a 2004-2005 model. Your getting what you want + saving a little bit too.

A 1500 or 2500 will accomplish all that you listed, but the 1500 would be fine. If you dont use it for much else than personal transportation and towing a car every once and awhile, the 1500 will get all of that done with room to spare.

If you will be throwing dirty car parts in the bed, get it Rhinolined! Its worth every penny!

Yeah, thats why I want a truck and not a Tahoe or big SUV, I want to be able to throw nasty old LT1 parts in the back of it.
