Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum so if I am posting this in the wrong section please let me know. I recently purchased a 93 Z28 to satisfy my "fix" the car has a few cosmetic issues, most easily fixed-EXCEPT THIS ONE.
One of the previous owners put a tow hitch on the camaro!!!! It looks like they might have towed something a little too heavy because the gap between the hatch and rear "camaro" facia is MASSIVE. The only thing that I can think is that the rear is pulled down slightly but none of the other body lines seem to be "off".
How do I pull in this gap?!?? Please help!!

there is usually a good size gap. Do you have a picture? the other thing is that panel isnt actually part of the body its just a piece of plastic. I have never messed with it but you may be able to move or adjust it so that it lessens the gap.

I will put a picture up as soon as I can, but I have tried lowering the rear latch and raising that facia. Nothing gives me enough.

Didn't mean to post three of the same angle. I'm getting used to this app. :)

How are the lines on the side of the hatch... is it sitting high at all as compared to the quarter panel tops...?

Nope, it's level, all the other body lines seem straight as a whistle as well.

k... so adjusting the hatch a little tighter would make it recessed in comparison to the quarter tops....?

Yes, I went down that road and ended up extremely disappointed. I also tried to tighten the hatch a smidge & adjust that rear facia up but there just isn't enough play between the two.

At this point I am tempted to remove the rear end until I find the problem, and sadly I think that's my best bet. I've heard from various people that the 4th gens never lined up "perfect" but that gap seems excessive.

You just lowered the latch itself to get that, correct?

Its been a while.... but yes. I think it was either 2 or 4 10mm bolts.....

It's four, I'll try it again and see if I can get it dialed in. I'll post a pic if it shows any improvement. Thanks for brainstorming.
