Ok, so I've been reading a few articles on the web about running a breather w/ the PCV valve, or just one or the other. Curious what you other fellow LT1 owners are doing?

In my situation, my engine being a few years old now... i've run high oil pressure since i built it (installed high volume pump during rebuild of engine). At the track last year I noticed that I'm getting a lot of oil through my pcv valve and hose back into the intake. One time after installing my canton valve covers last year the pressure even blew out the rubber gasket. At the time i did know what happened and later found that once i got it home.

Is this a common issue? should I look into blocking off the pcv port on the throttle body and getting an oil catch can? or run a breather in combination w/ the pcv.

And should I be worried about any long term effects of this? any cleaning measures I should do before racing this year?? So far I pretty much have only about 2 years of summer run time on the motor. Off and on (when something doesnt break :-/ lol )

i bought a $3 breather filter at autobone and connected it with factory hose from t.body...no more oil in t.b now!!!

hey guys, forgot to thank you for that link... i took the advice and I was to find a Fram breather (basically same design as the purolator) And im gonna look for a filter like what was shown and go with that setup.

Thanks again!

It is worth noting that in stock trim the PCV valve is on the driver side of the motor and NOT on the passenger side valve cover like many people believe. That's just a tube - nothing more - that connects the valve cover and the throttle body.

If oil in your throttle body is a concern, run a catch can on the PCV valve hose (goes UNDER the throttle body) and another one on the fresh air supply hose OR a breather in the valve cover. Keep in mind some breathers suck and can/will blow oil through them.
