I cant really say. I used to run Shell Rotella religiously because it is high grade oil, lots of detergents and ZDDP. I never had any O2 sensor issues. Granted, if your using an "off road" oil, the the ZDDP I would assume will be higher. I have heard of leaded fuel killing O2's. But never oil. My best guess is your a tad bit too rich and the O2's just don't like it :)

I believe if you read the back of the bottle it says its not for newer vehicles. I think it has a chance of clogging up the convertors, I would think it could do the same to the sensors.

I did read that recently I am switching to regular valvoline I don't have cats but I just can not be replacing o2 sensers as much as I do .

I use regular Napa oil. It's cheap at about 2.69/qt, and it's made by the company that makes valvoline oil. Works for me. The shop I work at swears by the stuff.

update i haven't had the car tuned yet all ive done is i changed out both o2 sensors and i changed oil to standard straight 30 valvoline instead of the vr1 30 and so far so good the o2s are still alive . so maybe the additives can be an issue we'll see.

Not sure why you guys are running ZDDP additive oil. That oil is specifically formulated for older engines with flat-tappet camshafts. Up until '85 or so all engines had flat tappet cams and all motor oil had zinc in it. Slowly as the car manufacturers phased out flat tappet cams in favor of roller cams, the oil companies followed suit and only put the additives needed into their oils. ZDDP is not good for a brand new vehicle as it isn't ideal to meet emissions. Not sure about it fouling up an o2, I'd bet that is because of your tune. Not much engine oil goes out your exhaust, lol.

my builder builds alot of gen 1 engines and mustang mod moters and he told me i should run it i do no that i don't need it but i figured that he knows something being that he has built small blocks that have spun 10,000 rpm and stayed together . the little bit of oil that does get burt off can send them additives thru the o2 sensor it states on tne bottle of oil that it can plug converters so why not o2 sensors the car does need a tune but sense i swited oils i haven't had an issue with my O2s . my car is tuned for whats done but it's mail order and it has always been a little on the rich side my next move is to have it dyno tuned to clean it up
