Im not a religious man, so I dont want to request prayers.... I just ask that you all keep some well wishes for a friend and brother Police Officer, who lost his wife, and nearly lost his own life when his classic Bronco "malfunctioned."
It feels like just yesterday (although it was really two years ago) My friend and partner Officer Kyle Lesher died during a non work related vehicle accident.
And here were are again, nearly losing another Brother and friend..... Im by no means being selfish with this one. Dave survived, and his 33 year old wife was fatally injured when there was a problem with his Bronco. Although there are many rumors out there, the only thing we know for sure, is that they had picked up Dave's bronco (his pride and joy) earlier from another friends shop where some work had been done to it........
I cant even imagine what he is going through right now.....rumor is he called a friend moments after he crashed screaming that His wife is dead..... It makes me sick thinking the last time he saw her was after being fatally injured in a vehicle accident where he was driving...
This may explain better....

Wow, that sucks to hear. I can't imagine being the one driving a vehicle that injures (or worse) and friend or family member. My thoughts go out to him, did they have any kids? Are they doing a reconstruction, speed vs. speed limit would be intresting to know and especially what kind of work was done to the vehicle.

Wow, what an unbelievable story. My thoughts go out to him for sure. I can't imagine what the hell happened. And no matter how much thinking he does about the accident and what was wrong with the truck, it isn't going to change a thing. :(

Damn....just trying to envision his level of pain right now is above me. its never easy losing someone especially if you were right there and had no control over the situation. I hope that he'll be ok it'll take time for him I'm sure...but my prayers to him and the family.

Im sure the County Detectives will be doing the recon on the crash... simply because there was a fatality..... However only if they believe there would be something criminal with the driver or someone elses actions. As long as he was sober, I imagine there will not be to much more than measurments and records....

UPDATE:
Although i have been unable to speak to him, he is home now and recovering. I understand he is as "good" as can be expected. His last recolections were that the throttle stuck..... And I know that he and a friend had recently installed a new transmission, which if Im not mistaken, shares the throttle cable on those old fords.......
I know if thats the cause he will NEVER forgive himself....

Just wanted to update... and put some closure on this. From the words of Sgt Dave Gold:
"
David Gold (http://www.facebook.com/sgtgold30)
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers & responses. I read over them often, as I find myself staring at the computer, my cell phone, the tv, the wall,.....not knowing what to do.
Most of you knew her and her affection with the Bronco, but for those that didn't know, the Bronco, was just as much, if not more hers than mine. We spent many hours working on it together. She got upset if I did something to it without her help. She had as many busted knuckles as I did. She went in to work many Monday mornings with grease under her nails or paint on her hands. Her wedding band still has rust inhibitor on it that wont come off. She painted the entire Bronco (with spray paint), ordered parts, picked up parts, impressed the workers at Eastwood, and laughed at the local parts store employees incompetence. She got upset that I drove the Bronco more than she did and wanted a half cab Bronco of her own. She was a graphic designer & recently had one of her designs flown off the back of a few trucks at Monster Jam.
The rest of my family's in FL, no kids, and hers is in CO. How I proceed now that the funeral has come & gone, is still unknown. I wished I had not made it through the crash. I have never thought there could be so much pain without physical injury.
The crash occurred within yards of our house, which means I have to see it constantly. We had just pulled out of our driveway on our way to Tractor Supply for bird food. I eased up on the throttle as we headed toward a curve and instead of slowing down we continued to pick up speed. The engine continued to race as we picked up speed. I applied the brakes as hard as I could to give myself more time, as a curve and then major intersection was approaching. I shifted out of gear and the brakes locked, I continued to control the skid for a short distance but for some reason we were thrown thrown into a spin. I remember knowing we were going over and hoping she was holding on. Unfortunately I remember nearly all of the rest of the crash as well, including holding my wife yelling for her to wake up but knowing she did not make it. That memory plays over & over & over in my head.
I wanted to say thanks to those who have sent comments as I haven't been able to reply to everyone individually. I also wanted to reassure those that may have thought I was driving erratically, that I was not. Don't sit here and second guess or think to yourself what you would have done if you were the driver. I have been doing that over & over & over & over and it doesn't help."

That's too hard to bare. It's completely unimaginable. It sounds like he really needs some people around him right now for the support.
