So, I am fed up with the POS shop creepers my boss provides. They last about a month then the wheels fall off. So I have decided I need to provide my own. The ones we have are these: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_1038203_1038203

I am looking at this one. But I'm not digging the three wheel design nor the price tag.

Anyone have any first hand experience with a high quality creeper? I am a pretty big dude. Pushing 280lbs, and the creeper will see smooth concrete as well as asphalt.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a craftsman one that works OK, I have the same problem as yours the wheels get loose and have to be retightened or they will fall off. It pisses me off so much I hardly use it! A friend of mine about your size has a similar one but it's a 2 piece design that came with a floor jack and it's a complete POS. The center where the 2 pieces connect pinch you when you lean to the side or try and sit up.

Some of HFT's stuff is hit and miss but this one has decent reviews for 200+ pound users http://www.harborfreight.com/oversized-low-profile-creeper-2745.html The price is decent and they have one you can order if there's not a store near you. Almost every car magazine had the 20% off cupons you could use to make it a little cheaper for tryin out.

I have a metal frame Craftsman Professional creeper that's about 7-8 years old. Was worth every penny of the $100 i paid. Has shoulder recesses, extra head pad, and the wheels are the bigger ones that don't stop on a extension cord.

^ I need this. There's NOTHING that pisses me off more than getting hung up on a cord, a really small rock, or a nut.

I've got an old wooden one my grandpas had for probably 40 years. It works better than all of the new ones I've tried. Lol.

I was at my buddies the other day helping him with his corvette. He had this awesome plastic creeper he said he got from harbor freight. It was wide and set up very ergonomically and also had slots on the side for sockets and wrenches.

Ive never been a fan of the plastic creepers. But that bone creeper is looking like a possible candidate. I can get one locally and return if its a heap. Thanks for the reply's so far. I like to see what everyone is using these day. Looks like Harbor Freight is just as popular with some of you as it is with me. :)

Im the same way Mike, being relatively the same size as you (actually within a few pounds) I just crawl under where I can. But, that also kicks the crap out of my back and knees. I usually feel it soon after crawling back out.

That being said, Ive had good experiences with the usual major brands you might see all over (Cornwell, Snap-On, I think I even remember using someones Mac if threy even make one... Also Craftsman and Harbor Freight make good quality stuff for a GOOD price, used both and had no issues). Just those though, not really any off brand names. I guess its really up to trying as many as you can and just seeing for yourself what sucks and what doesnt (also, whats comfortable and whats not).

I had a nice Craftsman creeper that was the higher end model. It worked great untill I let it in the rain and the pressboard on the bottom fell apart. I bought the $25 one from Sears and it is a POS. I think I might just put a new piece of wood on the bottom of the 1st one and put it back into use.

This would be one of my peevs.... Cant stand being completely covered in Trans fluid/oil/coolant on a hot day. But, most of the time when your getting into it you cant avoid it.
