I got a "new" old car. Its been sitting for a few years. It sat for over a decade and was cranked and ran very little a few years back and was then parked again. My grandpa gave it to me, Im not sure why. I really dont know much about it. It was my Great grandmas daily driver for 30 years lol. Only has 80000 miles. Its a nice white color and the interior is mint. The AC compressor turns on, but doesn't cool much, Im not sure how to convert it to R134a or if I can still get R12 somewhere. Everything else seems to work.
I got it running over the weekend and changed the fluids. It needs a belt on the AC compressor and the tires are over 20 years old but have brand new tread :brows:. Im going to replace them for safety after I sandblast the wheels and check them out. Getting insurance put on it next week and am gonna start cruising in it. So far Ive got it running pretty good. Im going to run some carberator cleaner through it and it should clear up and run nice.
I guess you are wondering now what it is? Well everytime I have been around the car I havent had a camera so I have no pics of it but Ill definitly get some later this week. Its got a pretty strong running 383 in it and a 3 speed automatic with Push button gears. A 1963 Chrysler Newport. Ugliest car EVER MADE.

My grandpa is going to give me the original bill of sale that came with the car. I think my great grandpa paid around 4000 for it.

Converting to R134A is nothing but an evacuation and changing a few fittings over to the new style. That's it.
Even though the car may be ugly by your standards, I'd LOVE to own a car like that. Those things are always a big hit at shows in my area. Old, original, and classic.

I'm going to clean it up this weekend and will get some pics. I like the car, there's just something cool about driving something that's 50 years old. Especially since its ALL original.
I got under it yesterday and there is almost no rust on the underbody. There is some rust showing through the paint around the bottom and a couple of places on the trunk lid. I'm gonna have to get new window rubber and wipers. I'm sure other stuff will come up. The brakes, starter, and ignition was replaced a few years back so all that's good.

Well I had a good day today. Washed all of the dirt and dust off of the Chrysler, then my grandpas old hotrodding buddy stopped by and told some cool stories, and to end the day, my cousin was in town in his 500+ horsepower 1000+ torque powerstroke diesel and wanted to race me. I told him I dont get traction from a dig and we needed to do a roll and he agreed since his truck his two wheel drive with the same problem. We did a 40 roll and it was no contest. I pulled a few cars on him by 80 and shut it down. Then we tried a 15 roll and it was worse. I spun through first but then pulled him hard through second and third and shut it down. Was pretty exciting but I hated to bust his bubble. He said he'd be back with bigger injectors and a bigger turbo. I told him Id be waiting with a twelve bolt and a cam.
Well this is my mopar thread so here comes the pics...

And just for fun Ill post a couple of pics of what my grandpas friend was driving. Its got a 409 with worked over edelbrock aluminum heads, two edlebrock 4 barrels and a big cam. He had electric cutouts and thought they were the coolest thing ever. lol. Sounded damn good through the cutouts but not good through the little exhaust he had run out the back. Says the engine should be pushing over 500 horsepower.

It was my great uncles car he and his brother restored and put a 350 in. Lewis, the guy who has it now just so happend to have a 409 in his garage he wanted to put into an impala (they originally came with 409s). He traded a 94 C4 with 60000 miles on it and 2k cash for it.

That Chrysler is very clean! To a collector of odd ball Mopars it would be worth a good amount of cash. It is crazy what we have seen since we started getting into the off beat ones. We just lost out on a grille for the station wagon on ebay. Got beat out by a guy at the last second that hit it at $350. There are hardly and NOS or repro parts for any mopar unless it is a Road Runner, Cuda, Charger, Challenger, etc...
fo those that didnt google, here is what we have:
62 Valiant signet 200:

60Dodge Seneca Wagon (when it came home, is almost resto now):

No pics but its very clean. Has nice wheels and lowered 2 inches and is a crew cab. It's just a 6.0 with stock turbo and injectors. He bought the truck with a bad motor and had everything in it replaced. Went with better harware inside and head studs etc so it should hold a lot of power when he upgrades everything. He said he has well over 10000 in the motor but got the truck for almost nothing.

Yeah I believe it, mods for the diesels are crazy expensive. GHe made a good call on studding that block too, the 6.0s love to lift the heads with only a tuner.
Love the mopar too, keep it clean my friend!

Although its not my cup of tea, I approve of almost anyone getting another car they love (as long as they don't sell their LTX for it).
