I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but has anyone here done, or thought about doing this swap? I think it would be worth it for the weight difference and I don't think it would be that hard. I know you can buy a kmember and mounts for the mustang to bolt the LT1 and 4l60e in. My concern is the camaro's wiring harness. How hard would it be to fit it for the mustang? Oh and I found sbc headers for the mustang but not LT1 headers. Could I get the sbc headers, cut the flanges off and weld my pacesetter flanges on for the d shaped exhaust ports? I'm thinking the LT1 and sbc 350 exhaust ports will line up. Is this correct?

if the ports are the same as the lt1 i would run that header. when i make my turbo kits. i use sbc header flanges not lt1 ones. if the flanges are the same they will work. and yes you can cut them off and weld them to a lt1 if you want. and i would get a lt1 stand alone harness. there about $200 on ebay for them. thats where i got my lt1 24x conversion one for $300. its easy to hook up some. it has some postives, some switch positives and a couple of negatives.

standard sbc headers should work fine. i think the ltx block has both the ltx engine mount pattern and the gen 1 pattern. for the trans ford motorsport used to sell a cross member that was movable. as for the wiring i think you would be into unknown territory.

I think we used to have a Florida member with a FO-bra that was LTX powered.....
On the wiring, it depends how much stuff you want to work as to how difficult it would be.

Will the stand alone harness work with the stock computer?

What stuff do you mean? It will be mostly track driven so it's ok if some stuff don't work.

I would just go through your camaro harness and eliminate what is not needed, much cheaper. And I had problems getting sbc headers to seal to my aluminum LT1 heads so I stepped up to 1 3/4" primaries, that way port shape doesn't matter it covers it completely.

Here are the headers I'm planning to get with the AJE tubular k-member.

There was a 96 cobra with an lt4 in it at the second shootout. That sn-95 chassis is almost identical to the foxes. Hell from 79-04 they used the same suspension with the exception of springs and shocks/struts due to weight changes in the cars. The k-members even swap over.
