Posted this here because it seemed to be the right place..
Just the other day we here in Minneapolis a little snow storm rolled its way through.. We probably got 4" of snow or so.
So anyway, I read in the lt1 section that this guy had glowing manifolds.. Which reminded me of this night..
I drove my buddy Art to his truck which was parked at our friends apartment complex. The entrance to the place slopes downwards at about a 140 degree angle until you get to the parking lots, and at the slope was this guy in a old sentra was trying to get up this hill.. The poor sob tried and tried to get that little thing up the hill. Art and I must have showed up after he had been trying for about 10 minutes and was half way up the hill.. We drove past him down the hill and decided to park just at the bottom to see if he would make it.. (Yeah yeah we were having a little fun watching this)
So this guy is trying so hard he ends up putting the car sideways in the entrance and while he is sitting there Art and I notice something orange under his car. Art says " Woah, wait, could that be something stuck under his car?" Didn't look like it and after several guesses we had finally got a real glimpse of what it was...
His WHOLE exhaust system was GLOWING orange, not a little... It was lighting up the whole underside of the car like that neon under glow people do. Every inch of the exhaust was orange from where it began under the car all the way back including the muffler and even the exhaust tips were glowing a little, with the color growing in intensity towards the engine. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT... We were laughing our asses off because it was this ghetto lookin car with this ghetto lookin guy drivin. He didn't seem to notice the exhaust or if he did, he didn't give a shit.
We watched him straighten out and roll back down the hill to his parking spot, at which point I left Art at his truck and got out of there, but while driving home I couldn't imagine what would cause the exhaust to glow THAT badly.. Me and Art thought it could have been a clogged cat, and that sounds plausible. But in all honesty I have no clue what would have caused this.. Running EXTRA rich? IDK....
Anyone see something like that before?
