That roots manifold finally being released would be reason enough for me to buy another lt1 car. Any doubt in my mind about getting something newer would be cast aside. Fuck a c5, fuck a srt8 magnum, fuck an evo. Hands down would be having clayton racing build me a motor to put that on

I think my procharger only runs a 6 or 8 rib belt..... Is there a difference in resistance with the types of blowers?

More ribs, more surface contact area, less chance of slip.

I am not sure how much difference there is between a centrifugal and the screw. But I do know we had to slow ours down because we were breaking 8 rib belts every 4 runs.

only time will tell i suppose. I haven't bothered looking to see what they are capable of. If I remember right he was talking 750 at the wheels which would put it at the high end of a D1, he also said maybe 1000hp. That would be more in line with an F1/YSi.
I'm looking forward to the results either way.

Basing it off the standard Maggie kits for the LSx stuff, it's probably going to be in the area of 7-8 G's if I had to take a guess.

Although it looks dead sexy, and I love seeing new things for our cars, I have not been sold on roots style blowers. Instant torque? Sure. But with most guys setups, (mine included), the last place I want all the torque is right off the bat where I need traction the most. This is to say nothing about the fact that roots style blowers are huge heat soakers that will start robbing you of ponies as soon as they get hot (which they do shortly after you start getting into the boost).
Maybe I am alone on this one, but I'll stick to my centrifugal style blower without regret.

Yeah, I seemed to have been very lucky getting on here the last 24 hours where previously I couldn't from where I am.
Anyways, to comment on the P1SC vs D1SC; the P1SC is rated at a max cfm of 1200, where the D1SC has a Max cfm of 1400. That may not seem like much of a difference, but keep in mind how powerful the F1 is, and it is only 1525 cfm. That difference is even less significant compared to the cfm difference between the P1SC and the D1SC. :)

I think you are going to have a very stout setup Larry. I would think with your heads and intake combo alone, even with the P1SC, you still should be making more power at the wheels than me in the end. I am really happy to see you finding the bugs in your system and upgrading. I am hoping we can line up during the next shootout for fun. I will enjoy it as a friendly competition. Unlike some Mustang and LSX owners that I make it a point not to make the competition a friendly one...

Knowing what a fellow die-hard LT1 guy you are, why wouldn't you race it? I believe he is. A CMM, ProEngineer/Solidworks/Audesk Inventor (Some sort of parametric 3D modeling software), and a multi-axis (I would think a 6 axis would do it) CNC mill could make fairly short work of it (if you have lots of time to spend on it). Really, what he's doing isn't all that difficult if you have the tools above (if your'e an engineer :) ) The foam modeling that he was doing just helps plan the project easier. I believe the piece he machined was not cast (billet).

Yep, this is true. That guy's thread sparked my interest in sharpening my 3D modeling skills..so I downloaded Autodesk Inventor and am starting to design some things. I'd like to design some things for the LTX market (based off popular desires), and work with a supplier/retailer to get them going. I'd sell the R&D to them for pretty cheap, compared to how much it would cost to do the design work themselves. I just like to design stuff and see the LTX market get a bit more for options.
Example of having good tools to work with as an engineer that works at a factory: I designed a bracket, cut it on a laser, and bent it. Now I have a nice bracket for mounting my master cylinders for my hot rod to...no drilling or fitting needed...took about 30 minutes:)
