Looking to convert my car to a manual. Any parts like the clutch or shifter that I should just plan on replacing right away? And what would you recommend replacing them with? I'm looking for basic stuff, not an all-out rebuild. Looking to eventually be around 400rwhp. Also, 93 T56 or 94-97 T56?

'94-'97 t56, and get an aftermarket shifter right away, I went with Hurst billet plus, and its great, but there are others also.

Better shifter definitely, upgraded clutch, new pre-bled GM hydraulics. If it was me, I would get that used T56 rebuilt if you can afford it.
For a shifter, I love my B&M Ripper, but the Pro 5.0 is hands down the best one out there. Clutch, if you plan on making 400, I would recommend a RAM clutch. The HDX would be fine for you.

If you are not afraid of tearing into the trans a little, there are a couple minor upgrades that will pay off in the future.
Steel 3-4 shift fork
Bronze shift pads on 1-2 and 3-4 fork
Billet slider keys for the 3-4 slider/syncro.
I usaually get my parts from sixspeedsinc.com , but it looks like they are updating thier site.
Any of these three should be able to get you anything you need for a T56. I have personally dealt with Pro Motion and Astro performance. They both have top notch customer service.
I have not used D&D, but thire reputation is one of the best (atleast in the Mustang world).

Spot on! I did all that to mine while it was apart. I bought the car wrecked and it turned out not to have 3rd gear :frustrated:. I would definately consider all this with a higher mileage T56, especially with the 400 you're going to end up with. With that HP, you're going to eventually end up breaking stuff (if you're hooking)
I have got a RAM HD in my car. I've been really happy with how well it has held up. It's been in there for almost 3 years now. I honestly didn't expect it to last this long. I like SPEC's products as well. When this clutch is about to go, that's who'll be getting my money.
As far as the shifter goes, I don't think you can go wrong with a Ripper or Pro 5.0.
